  1. The conversation between Connell and Marriene about their relationship in school was really well done cause it’s realistic that after a long time you grow and develop and then get to that point of self reflection and apologise to her and her accepting it love the writing in the show and your reactions can’t wait for the next episode

  2. I love the apology scene. It's so unrushed and honest. Dramatic without feeling like it's pushing to be, which is a serious rarity in storytelling these days.

And the fact that the writer/s have Connell name what he's sorry for, then have Marianne respond with, "I forgive you" (instead of just "It's okay") is so, so important. "It's okay" dismisses and downplays what happened. "I forgive you" takes it seriously, and then lets it go. That's the kind of thing that enables actual intimacy'.

  3. It's pretty phenomenal just how much they packed in (this) one episode alone. So many other series coulda/woulda milked most of what happened for a buncha episodes before even dealing with it… I mean the longtime coming discussion/apology of how things were handled 'back' in high school, Marianne having enough of Gareth… AND even breaking up with him… lol, it was so economical in the editing, it just started off with "wha?". Even the 'getting to know her friends' scenes, AND still have a will they won't they that actually took it's time… ALL in this one episode. And nothing felt rushed. I was still reeling from how good the prior four episodes were (his mom: I don't even want to be in the same car as you), but this episode just gently blew me away.
I forgot that there are still so many episodes to go, we're not even halfway… but am enjoying this watch with you three.

  5. Rob said it best, the sex scenes are intimate, they feel real and raw and they’re not romanticised like in most tv shows/movies. it’s probably one of the things i like most about this show, all these deep, intimate, authentic emotions portrayed in the different scenes.

  6. “Why does she care so much about the Debs?” -Zuff. It’s not about the dance it’s about the fact that it didn’t even occur to him to ask her like it wasn’t even an option in his mind. That’s insanely hurtful when you’ve literally been having sex every day with that person. Like they don’t consider you a valid option at all.
