From the UK, no one has ever used HP on a steak. 😂 It's a breakfast sauce for the most part.
I keep hearing gordan ramsay's restraunt isnt even that great so suprised to hear that.
I like how 99% of Guga "sidedishes" have more meat than a typical main course recipe

Guga, you’ve offended so many of us Brits by calling HP Sauce “Steak Sauce.” It doesn't belong on steaks. It belongs on a bacon sandwich or a Full English Breakfast. Also, Cottage Pie isn't a side dish. That's another main course by itself. You also don't add cornstarch and bacon to a Cottage Pie as well. At least you didn't pronounce Worcestershire Sauce wrong otherwise that would've started World War 3.
Think it’s more of a thing you’d have on the side rather than on the actual steak.
So if you wanted to dunk your chips in something different than ketchup, you’d use HP sauce.
Personally never seen it used for steaks, the only sauces for steaks would be peppercorn, mushroom, blue cheese, béarnaise, gravy.
Hp should never be put anywhere near a steak … The sauce is perfect with a bacon buttie or full English etc… Gordon Ramsey wouldn't even dream of this !!

Steak sauces should only be used on overcooked steaks.
They all looked delicious, but I do have a question. Spread out among your channels, can I ask how many bags of charcoal you use a week? Even if you sous vide the steak, there is always grilling. I’m just curious – hope you don’t mind me asking.

Steaks only need salt, black pepper, garlic powder and probably little bit MSG powder seasoning to taste good.

Assuming I use steak sauce at all, which is unusual. It’s HP or nothing. But then I’m in Canada
once in awhile I will use a little dab of sauce like on one piece just for something different & to remind myself how good the steak is on its own haha
Also, people who use A1 on a steak add it at the end. They don’t cook it with the meat.
Steak sauce is a must if the steak is overcooked
With that side dish, swap out the cornstarch for gravy powder. It adds a little more flavour.
Brown sauce belongs on full english breakfast, not a steak.
The only thing you use brown sauce for is to make a crap food taste diffrent. Same reason people use A1 i guess, when you're eating a truely disgusting quantity of animal flesh and the flavour fatigue can't quensh an Americans gluttonic urge to eat more.

dont ruin a good steak with steak sauce. if it was seasoned/ marinated properly just cook it to about med rare and eat it plain thats the only way a good steak should be eaten.
HP is good mixed with ketchup, and eaten with fries. Maybe add some to bolognese. Never with steak.
Steak sauces have their place. Definitely not on steaks, but A1 is excellent on a burger.

Hp sauce is usually put on chips you don't cook stuff in it.
GUGA not only did you use HP sauce on a steak (no one in their right mind would do such a thing) you also called the side dish shepherd's pie when you used beef, that is a cottage pie not a shepherd's pie. Really just did zero homework on this one
Bottled sauces don't really belong on steak a vast amjority of the time. Pan sauces like a red wine demi glace however, are always pretty phenomenal. Ideally you are excentuating the flavor of the steak and most bottled sauces won't do this, but perhaps there is a time and place for bottled sauce to cover up a poor quality steak. AI sucks and I've never heard of HP being used on steaks.
How did you come to the conclusion that HP sauce is used on steaks? Ask literally anyone from the UK and we’ll tell you it’s used almost exclusively for bacon or sausage butties (sandwiches) or English breakfasts never near a steak.

OK so the hp brown sauce is definitely not for streaks. The brits tend to use it with the full English breakfast, presumably because of its high vinegar content it somewhat balances the flavours of the fried items or something like that, I've never really liked that sauce personally. As for your cottage pie, folks usually add carrots alongside the peas and those 3 get drowned in a beef gravy before the mash goes on top. I had to ask my Mrs about that because I used to have my own special recipe to make it with my preferred veg.
