Neither of these games will go down as all time classics, but you manage to bring as much hype for meta-game shifts as you do for sick back and forth micro. You clearly explained why one approach worked better and anticipated how Viper would adapt in a way that was both entertaining and educational 👏🏼

  2. 10:52 I have the impression that video's version of Nomad is actually the original (the AoC version), and the current version in DE ladder is a changed.

    I would say that I prefer the original, with the land lock to one side, for the playstyle variety. I'm not sure tho, about the implications the safe backwater can create, in the AoC version, regarding turtling with fishing ship economy, since someone will have to secure only one water passage.

  4. there's no one better than or at least as good as T90 in casting this game. While keeping up with the gameplay and not losing important details throughout the progress he still keeps giving us important info delivering it in such an entertaining way.

  5. Fascinating, how just a tiny little change of detail can cause such a massive difference in the outcome, merely a few minutes later. That's why we love aoe2!
    Excellent work, T90, for pointing this out. I bet most of us wouldn't even have noticed this. Best aoe2 content creator, ever!

  7. As a viewer, I love competitive games on the less standard maps. I think the map variety is such a huge thing for AoE 2 as a whole when compared to other RTSes and makes for exciting innovations.

  8. Not only are the TCs far apart, but the docks are as well and that makes a big difference. If far apart it seems fast castle is better and Viper would have been better off, if he had gone to a bigger fish boom. The second dock was unnecessary because he stopped making fishing boats at 6:52 and only used the 2nd dock for fire ships. Barles kept making fishing ships until he had 6, the extra ships more than paid for themselves as Viper's attack did not start until after 13 min. This gave the extra ships at a minimum, about 5.5 minutes to collect about 20 resources per minute. That is 110 food for the cost of 75 wood for each of the 2 extra ships. Then you add on the cost of the fire ships plus extra dock and Viper is way behind on the way to Castle Age.

  10. Would this kinda strategy work against Portuguese arena organs? Main point of difference I can think of is that archers would be that organs could tank archer fire better than jans.
