Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver star in the adaptation of Christopher Koch’s novel, The Year of Living Dangerously. Watch the full movie now!

About The Year of Living Dangerously (Theatrical Release – January 21, 1983):
Indonesia 1965. Revolution is in the air. Foreign journalists covering the feverish unrest are kept at arm’s length by the wary Sukarno government. But with the right contacts, you can get a real story.

Australian reporter Guy Hamilton is after that kind of story, but he knows the mere telling of it will betray his source. Mel Gibson is Hamilton and Sigourney Weaver is an enigmatic embassy aide in this taut drama and intense tale of passion directed by Peter Weir (The Truman Show).

In a gender-bending performance that won the Oscar®, New York and Los Angeles Film Critics Awards, Linda Hunt plays a male photographer who sees with his conscience as well as his eyes. “This is what great acting is,” Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times, “a magical transformation of one person into another.”

  1. Jeremiah 29:12-13 Then ye shall call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

This life isn’t all there is and judgement is very real. If you don’t know if God is real and you want to, if you seek Jesus Christ and call on him with a genuine and repentant heart, he will answer you, and you will soon know how real he is, because he loves you more than you will ever know. God bless. ❤🙏🕊

  2. I'm surprised that Sigoiny Weaver could look dignified for that length of time. Also, Linda Hunt won't be making a difference to anything no matter who "adopted" her. And the Philipinos will be going nowhere forever and eternity.

  3. What a magnificent film; haven't watched it in decades. Gibson and Weaver, so gifted with screen presence. They were at the peak of their fame in the 80s, and with good reason. This was the role of Linda Hunt's life, and she was terrific.

  4. This movie was filmed in the Philippines, with Filipinos Bembol Rocco, Kuh Ledesma, Joonie Gamboa and the extras.
If you will listen to the background dialogues and you know the language, it is Pilipino language you will hear.

  5. That opening scene reminds me of the only time I returned to Cuba after 20 years. They checked my passport like 3 or 4 cops, then at the exit, they checked my bags and started taking stuff out, stuff I had paid for the extra weight in Miami Airport. I was traveling as part of a group, American women sympathetic with the Castro regime, I was the only Cuban, the stuff was for gift for my family. The guide, a Cuban, of course, came back in and told them What's the problem? We are waiting for her to leave. With incredible speed they put everything they had taken out back in my bags. Later, I asked the guide: what do they do with stuff their retain? They sell everything in stores.

  6. Classic movie. Cinematography, dialogue, acting by Mel Gibson, Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hunt (playing a male photographer) transcending a historical moment in time- the Indonesian Revolution of 1965. Thanks for showing

  7. Interesting that an outcast is suddenly all over utube.
Next. Interesting that I have not read one comment about the meaning of this film.
Next. If a real soul is active in the comments, perhaps you see. Anyone else you have to seek and find for yourself. Answers cannot be found in another and cannot be told from another who knows.
It’s a mystery for you and me so we seek.
The clue is the key. Ask and receive, you have to know who to ask .
    What seed..

    Knowledge or life.

Is knowledge attainable, if so then from where?
Is the fruit of the tree of life real.

How could we know about the real life we have been outcasts from.
we watch others “real life reality” on a screen while disengaging from the gift of life we have been given. Distracted.

It’s not an answer I have been given by any church or teacher and I have been troubled by the lack of explanation as to what is the tree of knowledge of good and evil and what is the meaning of the tree of life.???
I suppose maybe we are not to be taught nor taken into the ideas of rulers who have power on the mind, not taught or given values by others whose job it is to teach us what is allowed to be taught, brain and spirit washed is what has come to this world.

What would we do if all of the apples eaten were taken.?

What would we do and who would we be?
