The Wheelspin Machine! – Forza Horizon 5

I go a little bit mad by putting a GTR engine into a Nissan Sentra and while surprisingly fast it is also an almost pure wheelspin machine.

  1. I was the car on the outside of the Maserati on race one unfortunately, was at least a spectacular death! My car wasn't terribly competitive anyway, which is strange, I ran it in a very similar configuration in a 911 themed VSTC several months ago and it was one of the fastest cars on track.

  2. my second VSTC, (I’m still not used to building cars) the levante was insane off the line and it’s straight-line speed was good but unsurprisingly cornering was it’s downfall…

  3. My Emira was definitely fast when I had some clean road, kept having poles in the middle of the road around Mulege, did great for the next 2 races, and then got screwed by the disconnect message blocking the pop up to accept the race. Very lovely car regardless for a purist as it's not something I often run in A.

  4. "Tonight, the madness of V6 engines comes to Forza Horizon. Come as FailRace discovers:

2:19 "How to lag murder a Maserati Levante.
10:21 "How coffee is not good for racing in a Buick Regal GNX.
21:44 "And how to commentate curse your race in a Nissan Sentra." "The Sentra of Power!"

Some nice racing as always, but that Sentra was not as much a rocketship as Alex put it, as it only got a decent performance in the final race. The fourth race might have been good if Alex hadn't missed that checkpoint.
Come to think of it – when's the last time Alex did a FH race and missed a checkpoint? 🤔

  5. I had a choice with my 914/6; either the stock engine, which maxes out at ~320hp, and slicks, or rally tyres and the 500hp 911 gt3 engine. I may have made the wrong choice, since I seemed to have less grip, less speed and less control than the sentra anyway.

  6. Congratulations to all the racers on a good race. I've been away a while owing to a busy stretch at work, a vacation without working internet, a brief hopital stay, and a general disarrangement of my personal life, but I return with scores this week. For those who don't know or don't remember, all racers score points based on finishing position with one additional point for the fastest lap. The point progression is 25, 20, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. No points are scored for disconnections and changes can be made if Horizon forgets to count and CLEARLY gets it wrong. This will only happen around Alex, as I only have Alex's pov, and it has only come into play once, because H5 is better than H4 was at getting it right at the line.

SirPeeble was PROBABLY on course to win this one, but his unfortunate disconnection for his final race gave him 91 points with two fastest laps, finishing behind P1eased0nteatme who won with 109 points and the other three fastest laps. Third place went to pirzzzzzzz01 with 78, and Alex came in 4th with 72. If not for the missed checkpoint, on the fourth race, he would almost certainly have taken 3rd, but this is the way it goes. ShadowMarine47 came in 5th at 58. If he hadn't discconnected for the final race it might have been an interesting battle for 4th or possibly even 3rd. PurplePetrol edged out a 6th at 43 points. ErisNoRNG and SPeeDBEAsTx both scored 40, but Eris takes 7th and SPeeDBEAsTx takes 8th on account or Eris' higher finishing positions, scoring 5th in the second race, while SPeedDBEAsTx never came in higher than 6th. Despite missing hte first race, LeopardofFire scored a respectable 36 points for 9th place. CoffeeAddict677 came in 10th with 20 points. Jacobsmash came in11th with 9 points over FawnCoast235346 who rounds out the order in 12th.

Lag and desync issues abounded in this race, more than we've seen in a while, exemplified by Alex's light paint swapping tap on JacobSmash absolutely punting him into PurplePetrol13 in the first race. Going into the 5th race, SirPeeble led P1eased0nteatme 89 to 80 (as the last fastest lap had not been assigned yet) and had placed higher than P1eased0nteatme in ever race save the first. If he'd placed first or second, he would have won first place ragardless of where P1eased0nteatme finished, and he would still have won if he'd placed 3rd with fastest lap. But one can never QUITE be certain, which is why disconnections don't score any points. I'm looking forward to next week!

  7. My M3 somehow managed to be both horribly difficult to drive and slow in both the straights and the corners… I think the bloody thing is the slowest car I've ever built in 1.5 years of running in VSTCs 💀

Nonetheless, still had some good racing at the back of the pack! I'm tempted to try and recreate Alex's Sentra and give it a shot myself, that thing was really unexpectedly rapid
