Join us as we take a deep dive into the making of Brandon’s audiobooks with the voices of the Cosmere, Michael Kramer and Kate Reading. Our favorite narrators invited us into their home studio for a tour and a conversation about how audiobook narration has changed since the ’90s, their journey to Brandon and his iconic characters, and how Brandon’s stories (and audiobooks themselves) impact individuals and mental health.

  1. Well, TIL that Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are a couple … I had no idea! They do absolutely brilliant work and I'm really happy that they narrate Brandon's books. This behind the scenes information was really fascinating so I'll echo what a lot of others have said that this is all interesting and would love to keep seeing things like this in the future.

  2. I wasn't expecting to tear up watching this but part 4 got to me. I've listened to every single Sanderson and WoT book. I'm happy to see that the people I've spent hundreds of hours listening too are as amazing people as the job they do.

  3. Hard to describe how much I appreciate these narrators!! Michael and Kate are a comfort and a joy!

A decent narrator makes or breaks audiobooks. Too flat, and I cannot get into it 🙁

Michael and Kate are legendary, up there with Jim Dale, RC Bray, Michael Page, and Ray Porter for my very favorites!!

  4. I listen to audiobooks incessantly (averaging more than 60 per year) and Michael and Kate are some of my favorite narrators. I always love finding new books they've narrated, it definitely gives me the feeling of comfort and safety that Kate mentioned to hear either of them. Thank your for this video, it was really nice to be able to put faces to the voices I've heard so many times!

  5. Kate really explains so well at the 28 minute mark on why I love listening to WoT and Stormlight Archives with their voices, especially at normal 1x speed. I've heard other people doing some of the narration and the voices are just jarring compared to listening to the 2 of them.

  6. Thank you for this video! Hearing the words "Narrated by Michael Kramer, and Kate Reading" make me more than 90% more likely to buy the audiobook. The Eye of the World is the book I listen to over and over on long plane rides. Thank you for everyone's work making this video and these books.

  7. Wow so cool. I've spent at least 500 hours listening to both of them over the past few years. Mostly Sanderson books and one other book series I think. For Michael Kramer it took me a bit to appreciate his narrations. Kate Reading had a direct line to my heart from the beginning.

  8. Thank you Michael and Kate, I have pretty poor eyesight, so I listen to Bradon's books and I can't imagine better voice actors. I just love you doing voices of different characters. Thank you so very much for your excellent work and "hear from you soon" 🙂

  9. I love this soooo much! After all the books I’ve heard these two read it feels like they’re family. I listened to the entire Wheel of Time series at least 7 times and I think I’ve spent more time with Michael and Kate than I have with my wife!

  10. Absolutely my favourite narrators. Period. Full stop.

Brandon is an amazing writer. I was blown away when he actually wrote me back with a personal note when I had sent him an email.
