Join me for a conversation with former Los Angeles Fire Captain Paul Ybarra as we dive into the heart of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. We’re uncovering the hard truths—from resource shortages to leadership failures—and tackling the tough questions about what went wrong and how we can stop this from happening again.

The real truth is the RESNIK familly and other billionaire behind it with the water issues that this guy and the host pretend not to know and avoid to talk about it

Hi Lila Rose. 🌹pretty name, just thought I’d let you know this. I sense (very good possibility for this catastrophe.) I’m just gonna listen & I really sincerely don’t want to type anything that could hurt anyone. That’s truly not my intention. God be with you all.
I spent a good ten years or so of my life fighting fires with the US Forest Service. I need to say that although it is a very male-dominated line of work, and that generally men are better suited to the work, I have met a few female wildland firefighters who were superior to many of the males. These women excelled in their situational awareness and calm approach to a changing fire environment, whereas some of the guys could get cocky and even reckless. The truly excellent women firefighters added a helpful perspective to the situation. Granted, firefighters who work in a purely wildland environment rely perhaps a bit more on endurance and agility and slightly less on brawn than their structural counterparts, which makes the type of work more suitable for some females. I was most honored to work with these women.
Another difference in regards to specialized wildand firefighters as opposed to firefighters whose environment is primarily structural is that we didn't spend two to three days away from civilization. Rather, spending two to three weeks in the outdoors on the fireline was the norm. Just sayin'.
Actually, now I am a nurse, a man in a woman's world. I hope I also bring a certain expertise and a needed perspective to this environment.
This is really sad. 😢 the question that MUST be asked is who benefits from this horrific fire? Will there be rebuilding? Yes. So now the CA government has to spend (get it?) spend millions if not BILLIONS to rebuild. Then the CA government has to HIRE (hint) real estate developers (hint) to rebuild the cities to their specifications (hint, hint) so CA government will rebuild to their STANDARDS AND THEIR SPECIFICATIONS. And the real estate developers will get paid mucho dinero. AND then the other Real Estate developers will hit home and land from the poor who can’t afford to rebuild (major clue). So what does that equate to? Newsome rebuilds , real estate developers get hired and paid and then Real Estate developers purchase basically scoop up homes and land to build on because not everyone can afford to rebuild.
Nothing to add… just… Thanks for your work.. ❤❤❤
Why aren’t water towers placed in the towns near the mountain area….Glendale ,etc?
He initially didn’t want to mention the lack of management of the “wild” areas-removal of dried grasses, brush, etc. Some areas of California HAVE done controlled burns!
Why was the budget cut 17.6 billion $ and where did the money go besides the DEI?! DEI=Do Expect Incompetence OR Don’t Expect Intelligence !! -LA county also donated fire equipment to Ukraine! When lives are at stake, there can be no compromise of the ability to do the tasks required , but the liberal Democrats don’t agree!!
This man told it like reality is ! (And he did it in a nice way!). Good job Lila in getting this guy interviewed, and letting him talk!
Ad hominem attack. Present your reasoning!
Residential properties should not be allowed in canyons with such winds and desert conditions. No oil bearing plant or tree should be allowed as landscaping. This is not only predictable but avoidable.
🙏🙏
The NYPD lower standards in the late 1980’s and it shows today, lack of leadership and political interference results in situations like the LA fires and the crime waves in the major cities today
Yup … the requirements for the job have to be met or exceeded … because lives are on the line … it's not a political party position … AND the anti American forces in our country are doing their very best to sabotage our infrastructure at every level … Where are the Americans with backbone who need to stand against the idiot and enemy mind? There is a great opportunity for heroism here … and it will count in eternity.
So yes, Lila, it is mismanagement. The Santa Anas happen every year. The preparation for this isn’t funded, the equipment isn’t maintained & water storage has not been expanded as voted for. The fire was massive but imagine how much might have been saved.
Very informative and common sense discussion. Thanks for interviewing him!
Great to listen to and learn from!!

Thanks for sharing your precious experiences….
BREAKING: A reservoir in the Palisades that holds 117 million gallons of water was offline this month for previously scheduled maintenance. It was empty when the Palisades fire exploded, per the LA Times.
How about managing trees and brush…. Oh so he’s blaming 4 or 5 citizens that sprayed their house? Most people fled
Lila…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let anyone and everyone that you know set this communication would not be lost on Nadia's there are people across the state Across the Nation praying for the firefighters and for their lives for their welfare and that they're successful. I even go as far as praying for the weather to work on their behalf. The Bible says we have control over the weather and I take that command over the enemy when the fires are going and the winds are blowing the most successful time that I actually could measure this prayer is in 2007 at Lake Tahoe and I asked the Lord to have the fire blow back onto itself via the wind and that happened within 8 hours. So anybody reading this that is how you pray. We have control and command over the weather patterns and we need to recognize God is the one that's ultimately in control call my butt we are the conduit through which he can perform
The clarity of video here is remarkable! 🎉 I do wish all videos looked this awesome! Refreshing for my eyes. ❤
It’s a matter of life and death to hire the most competent people for first responder jobs!
What about control burns?
In times of despair from disasters people like Mr Ybarra who can give some sage, wise advice and past experiences that is fashioned in a calm, critical thinking way is needed. Of course there will be moments of anger , sadness , frustration and grief emotions , which is expected and a natural response to a difficult situation, , however, calm and sensible moments to help guide and emotional support those affected is also needed. He has a lot of emotional intelligence. Everyone has something to contribute in these challenging times.
Great!

Truth?!
The minute you start to tell us that pruning trees off our houses and all this BS about the fire spreading from the flora to the houses, your words lost credibility!
We all see the burn scars. The brush fires are completely separate from what brings down the houses. The plants in the yards only burn if next to the building… except trees whose trunks burn from the center.
Whether it’s DEWs or exploding smart meters or whatever is burning the homes, it is NOT the wildfire, burning into the city from the brush.
Fact is, you are speculating, like the rest of us, but in your case, only within parameters allowed by media and by those in power who DO know what’s going on.

I need another thumbs up button! Capt. Paul Ybarra is the guy I want to show up on scene when it hits the fan. If anyone drops the ball on a call, things turn to crap real fast and sometimes it is difficult to recover because of a bad attitude or inability to do the job. You learn to value people like Paul. You have to live and breathe the job, it is 24/7, stay in shape, eat right, live right and you must at all costs prepare to be fatigued, physically worn out, lack sleep and handle tragedy that can haunt your nightmares for a long time.
Even the peripheral jobs, mine was ambulance and dispatch, you need to adhere to Capt. Ybarra's mindset to get through a shift and be of any use to the public. I always thought the greatest of all attributes to hold close was simply, love. Love and empathy for the public, love for your fellow workers all along the line, and love for the job itself. Heck, I even loved my ambulances; they were beautiful, bigger than life units that brought aid and relief to people in a very bad spot in their lives. Just hearing Capt. Ybarra talk so eloquently about this made me want to jump right back in the driver's seat and respond to a call. Right now, I am missing the great firefighters, medics, battalion chiefs, ambulance crews, and the other dispatchers I interacted with in neighboring fire departments as we worked together to get it done through some very harrowing times.
I'm just an old fart, pushing into my 73rd year and miss the work so much because it toughened me into a man. When I started, I was just a skinny fool who had no idea of what I was getting into, but I could do the job. Those were the best years of my life. God bless and keep you and yours, Captain Ybarra.
Thank you for the great interview.
Watch the 60 minutes interview with Los Angeles County and Orange County Chiefs and listen to what they say regarding these wind driven events
The scenes recorded will give you a visual of what we are trying to convey
Bullshit…a lot of folks saved their homes with hoses and sprinkles on their roofs. DONT DIMISS THEIR EFFORTS
Did you catch thst??? He said brush was CLEARED BY CITIZENS BY LAW!!!!! WOW pitiful just pitiful!!!!
This guy has so many strong points. As a retired fire fighter myself I can attest that lowering physical or mental standards is deadly. I have seen it. The lowered physical standards for women and not only did they get weak women but weak men as well. Sadly there was women who could do the job but the were a small number but they met the standards. Part of the reason I retired was because I got older and had injuries that diminished my abilities. I didn't want to be a liability to my men and capable women
I also believe that the winds were primarily the problem in LA but there still was obvious leadership failures to include water preparation. A lot of these house have pools and with proper coding they could be required to have out door sprinkler systems and more water storage in such a dry area. These neighborhoods were rich …how about out door fire systems required to build
So why is no one taking about how the fire started?
