THE UNDERTAKER VS KANE | Wrestling's Greatest Rivalries (Episode 2)

THE UNDERTAKER VS KANE | Wrestling’s Greatest Rivalries (Episode 2)

Few stories are more universal than that of the sibling rivalry. After all, it’s a tale so old, its one of the first ones told in the bible itself. So, when a wrestling booker is looking to get people invested with a good angle then, this can be an easy one to fall back on. That said, for as much as it worked well for the likes of The Hart’s, The Hardy’s, or even The Steiner’s, perhaps no one has ever done the warring brothers story better than Kane and The Undertaker. And that’s because, given the over the top nature of each character, it’s allowed for WWE to go full telenovela each time it iterates, creating an epic for the ages in the process. But how did it all happen? Well, join us today as we take a deep dive into the entire story from start to finish in The Undertaker vs. Kane, Wrestling’s Greatest Rivalries Episode 2.

  1. Everything about The Undertaker and Kane story was epic, it had so many layers, twists and turns as well as both guys going back and forth as a face and heel. Whether they were rivals or partners, you always knew you going to witness something special. Extra credit goes to Paul Bearer for his amazing storytelling and the way he tied these two giants together, he truly was the glue for this historic saga. My personal two favourite periods of this story was from October 97 – July 98 when Undertaker and Kane were enemies and August 98 – October 98 when they formed the Brothers Of Destructions. They were truly touchable during that time and they produced some legendary moments.

  2. One of the most fantastic aspects of this legendary kayfabe rivalry between siblings is that its backbone is a lifelong respect and friendship between best friends in real life— one (Undertaker) was instrumental in engineering the entire plot from the storyboard phase with creative, while the other (Kane) has always shown his appreciation by including him in his life outside of wrestling.

The only thing i believe WWE truly got wrong was allowing anyone but Kane to end the streak. How in the world did creative not see the perfect end to the story?!
