  1. Good luck with the copper strip, I found that slugs will wander over a single strip. What I ended up doing was two strips 1/4" apart with each strip connected to a pp3 battery. That did work !!!! The big problem was finding a waterproof container for the battery.

  2. Tony I use copper wire off cuts ring main 2.5 mo and light ing wire 1.5 mo.
I simply around the brassicars make circles of wire around around each plant and for other stuff wire around the edge of the growing beds. Also for things like lettuce cut the bottom off 2 litre pop bottles keep the cap on pop a few small holes at the top of the bottle for air flow add two small canes either side of the bottle help to the bottle either with wire or elastic bands.great vid all the best.

  3. Tony lad, I love your channel, have watched it for yonks and look for to seeing every new one. So why my flower, did you put background music on this one ? Unless I’m hearing things, and I’m quite an old bird so it’s possible. I love your accent and I had to turn up the volume to hear what you were saying but the bloody music got louder didn’t it ? Honest my love, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and your channel sure ain’t broke . Minor rant over, now where did I put the gin. 😉x Ros

  4. Mine is 50mm tape, only one stretch needed replacing after two years, apparently the slugs cannot cross it as they emit electrical pulses that reflect and electrocute the slugs! Them old wives are pretty smart. I also plant bait plants like nasturtiums nearby accompanied with a beer trap, also lay planks( strips of damp timber) or strips of damp wood or black plastic nearby, this is where they shelter, turn these over, collect them turned into cosmetic moisturiser!

  5. Good idea Tony with the staple gun. I tried sticking some to my beds but it fell off. Then I tried roofing nails but the tape had since broken into sections and fallen off again.
    It's costly stuff too.

  6. Tony you should have a chat with Eli and Kate up in Scotland. They did a whole thing on copper tape a few years ago cause they were having real problems. She did a whole thing about the size and type of copper tape and the different results. She was trying it on raised beds as well. If I remember Eli got some really good results.

  8. Steve – Build a trap for them slugs, a pile of bricks with gaps on the North side of the bed in the damp with a mug with beer in it. More bricks on top to keep it cool/damp.

  9. Do a test with slugs & snails on a board with copper tape… 🙏🏻 would love it if it works – blue pellets did the job perfectly 😩

  10. I've chopped up loads of dry bramble stems into 2 inch pieces, sprinkled them around the base of the aubergines, gherkins and peppers in the polytunnel. Seems to be working 😁

  11. I use bran. I sprinkle it around my containers and they love it. They get bloated and can't move and then the hedgehogs have a munch on them. Copper tape hasn't worked for me but then again, I had the smallest size of tape, so I'll give it another go!

  12. Hi Tony, where did you buy that staple gun? I have searched for bosch but can not find it. I am making my own vegetable garden in the middle of the forest where I live. Has a lot left to do with cutting down trees and clearing bushes and shrubs. No one has lived here since the early 80's but I thrive and think it's fun.

  13. Copper tape ONLY works if you attach a battery to it. It does nothing on its own. I tried it and found slugs happily sitting on the tape. You won't get rid of slugs in that garden. Way too much habitat with so many raised beds. Only way that worked for me was to go no-dig with no wood or sides and to keep it super tidy.

  14. The only real slug damage I've had this year was a young sprout plant and a cabbage were stripped .but that was it ..but something has started digging a few short shallow trench like holes in my beds ..it's seems like I've got a hedgehog on my plot ..seems too good to be true but fingers crossed that it's the reason for lack of slugs

  15. That was very interesting. I have black rubber edging around a river rock garden and the slugs love it in there with all those rocks. Would the self adhesive tape work by wrapping around the black rubber lawn edging? Also, on the other side of the river rocks is a wood fence, so they are getting in under the fence. Where could I put copper tape there? Thanks.
