In the Infinite and the Divine, Orikan sees the future and mentions that the Tyranids and Orks might eventually have their time at the top of the galaxy, only to struggle with the same problems as the Necrons, Eldar, and humanity.
Imagine that. A Tyranid or Ork ruled galaxy, where their greatest foe isn't some other species… But themselves.
They are the endless, and they are the end.

Great lore and account of the Tyranids. Only the Necrons have shown their power to shut the Tyranids down winning 95% of the time and the Tyranids trying to avoid them when they adapt and fight everything else even Chaos.
Edit: what's even more terrifying is if the Tyranids make a vessel for the Hive Mind on Tiamet. Or some other teleporter for entire Hive armies.
I have a theory that the Tyranids just want to be loved. But no one will give them the hugs that they desperately need.

This video's beginning was directed at people like me. So….I've been in the 40k hobby since 1992. I've spent a lot of that time looking at the Tyranid in derision, thinking "Oh….xenomorph rip-offs". I just saw them as…..well…..roaches on a mass scale. Then I watched this video. Ummmm…..my opinion is drastically shifted!

In general tyranids do make one question why there are not more suicide bombers in 40k. As a guardsman I'd sure as hell consider wearing a claymore mine suit in case the buggers got close.

Based on the distance between galaxies, the only event large enough to attract their attention would either be the creation of the Eye of Terror. Or much more likely the power and devastation caused by the War in Heaven. Because it would have taken millions of years to cross the emptiness between galaxies. That or the more freighting idea, the Tyranids are actually running from something worse than them. That their only passing through the Milky Way as the flee across the Laniakea galactic super cluster.
The tyranids are a threat that went ignored or diverted. That can't be the case any longer. Krippmans plan failed. Octarius is lost to the tyranids and their forces grow and adapt. How long will it take for the great devourer to be able to find the perfect adaptations to not only consume all life but even the warp itself? That's if the tyranids decide to eat all..lest they turn us all into cattle. Born to breed and be consumed till the end of time and only with the natural destruction of the galaxy will set us free.

The choice of name for Hive Fleet Ouroboris being so similar to Ouroboros, suggests a self-referential time loop. This stacks with their lore having them being probably responsible for historic sightings, and the suggestion that some tyranids might intentionally be scattering themselves using the immaterium.
I fully expect GW to birth a 'mother of monsters' chaos god or equivalent out of what Tiamet is doing, eventually.
