  1. The island splitting was kind of a blessing in disguise. If Noland had brought the king to the city of gold, he would have wanted everything, including the bell. Then Noland would no doubt fight for the Shandians, then he would be labeled a traitor instead of a liar.

  2. – Ok, it's happening!!
And we finally know how Noland was labeled as a liar. And on his last moments he wasn't concerd about his life, but for what happened to the Shandians, and if they were fine.

  3. 14:35 sounds like Star Trek TNG's Prime Directive. Don't interfere with a lesser civilisation's culture and law and don't impose your own.
History, eh. Reminds me of the class exercise where the teacher would tell one student a message and they must pass on the message until the last. By then the message would change to something completely different. To me, history is like that. Distorted over the years.

  4. The Lvneel King is up there as one of the Worst kings in One Piece.

    1. He was so petty that he framed Noland as a liar and shamed his family for 400 years.

    2. His greed cost the lives 1950 soldiers on their way to Jaya.

    What a terrible Monarch.

  5. Regarding the culture comment, in my opinion, if you are well aware that a wrong action will be done due to wrong reasons, which can lead to wrong outcome, i believe it is your duty to stand firm with you resolve, even going against someone's culture.. in the story's case, they are about to sacrifice a young maiden's life… I strongly believe that Noland is in the right when he stopped the ritual.

  6. ODA the writing genuis, was able to portray cognitive disonance at its finest and touphest, only few times does one changes their beliefs when presented hard truth! WE CAN ALL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER OF ALL MANKIND!!!! 😖

  7. I totally get the "let people do what works for them" and we should respect other cultures, but here that culture was trying to kill an innocent member of society. Killing an innocent person should be wrong in any culture, it's objectively morally wrong. They can excuse themself by saying they didn't know any better and they thought sacrificing her was worth it; but at the same time Noland did the right thing stop that woman to be killed and try to inform village people that they were ignorant

  8. ngl, i'd have interfered as well, i'm not one to tell people what they should believe and how they should live, but if people are dying for one reason or another, i consider that an exception to the rule.

  9. Noland isn't telling them to change their way of life, he's saying sacrificing innocent lives is sensless and doesn't solve problems. He's angry, and will absolutely stop them from doing it, part of their culture or not. Gods should be benevolent. Any god who would demand a innocent human sacrifice isn't one worth listening to.

  10. Agreed you can’t demand someone change how they live their life, but where does morality sit when someone is deciding to murder someone’s child for an un-instantiatable belief that has likely never done more than placate the minds of the locals? Things to think on.

  11. Doesn't matter of its been a certain way for a long time, when it's wrong it's wrong. There are plenty of examples of that right in this country. If people just Didn't do anything and just let them live there way, plenty things of the past would have just continued. Wrong is wrong regardless of how strongly someone feels about it.

  12. Yes, people live with different set of morals/beleiefs/culture yet there's just really a way to share of your values through education or evidence per se. Beside the truth is the truth, if you have the power to save people lives through knowledge even it cost to eradicate certain part of their culture, I myself, would suggest for the people should do that. Sure it was part of their culture and they have nothing to lose when they are proven wrong why that part of their culture doesn't work the way they think it would be. There is a correct/right/acceptable way for it; obviously not by force but through genuine discussion. Faith cannot be measured through science so let's not talk about that; It highlight here that what shadorian's doing is not insult to immeasurable discoveries that the world had already offered like medicine, zoology and *capitalism*? Well, my point is if someone is getting educated, I think it is okay if it's sudden. If you had time to listen then sure, hear what they wanted to say then observe, discover and test for yourself. Your sense and rationalization will tell you if it isn't safe or right anyway. (e.i human sacrifice, stealing, cutting down someone else tree)

  13. I think it's destiny that protect the poneglyph from the king. Poneglyph are supposed to be hidden and protected… Norland was about to show it down to evryone…

I understand that people find hard to understand kalgara. However remember that kalgara have no science. He keep on reliying to his gods because he don't know others méthods. He was sad that they choose his daughter but he can't Say nothing because sacrificing someone was the only solution he had a that Time…

  14. Okay it's happening, we finally got the true true story of Adventurer Noland "The Liar". Communication is hard when you show up out of nowhere trying to change someone's way of life so suddenly. It's like a 'technology vs culture' thing. It's sad since Noland and Kalgura were able to resolve everything, but never got one last chance to talk it out. Thanks for the video.

  15. Noland should be labeled as a brave warrior of the sea while Usopp is a big liar. (the beginning of Usop's journey) In the end, a legendary book was published in the future about Usopp becoming a brave warrior of the sea. 😂 lol

  16. Your point about not being able to place your own morals on other places or cultures being unacceptable is actually not quite true xD. We have done it, we keep doing it, we will probably always do it, but the only thing that changed with time, is the method. We have international politics and statements from countries that condemn certain actions, and that's all based on our own sense of morality, that has become more or less united through the advent of the internet. We still have specific differences, and corner cases that are treated differently, and are very contested, abortion in the US in some states being one example, where you're not unified even internally, but every country and its people will place a moral judgement on anyone they come across, and it's often a good thing, that politicians listen to their people and morally condemn certain treatment of other people, or bad handling of international news headlines etc. It just doesn't take the shape or form of literally and physically interfering in a ritual sacrifice in a separate state, by what could be considered an ambassador or diplomat.

But bringing the same topic a little closer to something like how kids are raised, people also place judgement and expectations all the time there too, but for anything that's not criminal (another moral judgement that's been codified xD), parents are allowed to either be convinced that the criticism is correct, or think the people criticising them to be wrong.

Not to make a big stink about this, I'm just often watching videos where technicalities tend to get highlighted, so I tend to notice things like this xD.
