  1. Usually, these videos would actually explain some sort of…. point to the algorithm. Otherwise it's just arbitrary. Not surprising that an algorithm of random numbers doesn't always produce an interger.

  3. Thank-you. Forget the maths for a moment; I want to read all of what it says on her tee shirt! 🙂 Daleks have been a part of my education since they first appeared on BBC Television in the early 1960's.
    The Somos sequence is certainly interesting and curious but, as ordinary human beings, some of us want to know answers to questions such as where it is found, why it occurs, and what are its practical applications? A mathematician might be more concerned about why the apparent sequence of integers suddenly 'breaks' at /7, why it might never produce integers again, and whether it is true that no more integers are produced.
    Do you have more about this sequence planned for a future video? Also, what more can you tell us about the work of the MSRI, which would be worthy of inclusion on this channel? Thanks again. 🙂👍

    Why is PI equal to a certain number

    all be it too uncertain to encumber

    Why not a different set off symbols

    Now that logic quickly crumbles

    in the global throwing up of theories

    about how to understand our fact deliveries

    Like I said about your number, how is this, then

    It is the geometry of the ten digit system

    I immagine there are many as interesting sequences

    in a binary, trinary, base 4, base 5 et cetera to no ends is

    an endless endeavour and what depends is

    Are we looking outside or just adjusting frequencies

    At the base, the problem is the same

    We project meaning onto our own creation

    Math

    Just like no morality numerology along the same path

    not the binary or any other arbitrary

    Take a bath

    I would though be interested

    for conspicuous reasons

    in what happens

    if you play these mind games

    with the old sixties

    You know, five times twelve

    here comes the elve

    Nine times a quarter

    There goes your daughter

  5. So in a physical world entwined with chaos and varying degrees of entropy, we’re curious to see that reflected in rather arbitrary systems that mathematically breed their own chaos and degrees of entropy? I’m shocked.

  6. Ignorant point of view says, you make a sequence – you get numbers out. Why would fraction be different from integer. It's just a value… We made up decimals so joke's on us.

  7. Part way through this video I was distracted by the paint in my room drying, then I went outside to watch the grass growing. Both were more interesting than this video.

  8. Some of this stuff seems interesting in and of itself. This however feels a bit cooked up, like they are fabricating wonder about made up names of obtuse operators…

  9. Somos2 is exactly solvable for any starting values: ln both sides to get ln(an) = 2ln(an-1)-ln(an-2). That's a linear recurrence characterized by [[2,-1],[1,0]]. Curiously, its jordan block is [[1,1],[0,1]], so its ln exhibits linear growth. So it grows exponentially.
