  1. Scroll scribing is based off of intelligence, with higher INT equalling higher perchant chance to succeed. I believe 20 or 21 INT is automatic succeed, and via potions of mind focusing (which you have) and potions of genius would both get your there. Wisdom gives bonus spell slots to clerics and druids, but otherwise has no purpose. Well, actually, it does effect two mage spells, but telling you which ones would be a spoiler.

PS: So for spells, I would HIGHLY recommend you memorize some Chaos spells at 5th level. It is a foe-only AOE disable spell. Has saved me multiple times. Also, it would be a good idea to go to the spell vendors in the Promenade and pick up Melf's Minute Meteors (3rd level spell). It creates some +5 missiles the caster throws, and what makes it great is they throw five per round, and it bypasses magic resistance on normally magic immune creatures like golems. Probably my favorite 3rd level spell.

  2. 12:53 Dorn is so badass haha, glad he's back around! Didn't get to see enough of him in your BG1 run, good thing you're still murderous enough for his liking – for now, at least 😛
And yeah he gets spells because his class is actually a subtype of Paladin! Blackguards get Absorb Health & Poison Weapon instead of Lay on Hands & Detect Evil, for example.
