The Tragic And Shocking Murder Of Lucy Clarke – January 1888.

Can You Solve This Puzzling Case?

In January 1888, a dressmaker was found murdered in her home at 86, George Street, Marylebone.

The police evidently had two suspects, and yet, despite the evidence against them seeming to be so strong, they were never charged for the crime.

In this video you can study all the twists and turns of this baffling case, and then discuss if you think the two people thought to have committed it were guilty or not.

  1. Mostly circumstantial evidence. But without DNA etc, thats how a lot of Victorian cases were solved. The Police didnt seem over interested in trying to prove the case. They were thieves for certain and to confess a few years later to a different murder suggest they were probably both killers.

  2. What an interesting video, never heard of this case, never heard of the channel. With cases like this, it's like looking at part of the picture, we see orange and black striped animal and think it's a Tiger, but see the whole picture and it's Monarch Butterfly. When it boils down to it, there is no evidence against the nephews. The Police would obviously think they're the most likely suspects, but they're not going to charge them, without any evidence. She left her door open, she was confident, nothing would happen to her, but there's other people apart from her gormless nephews. To kill your Aunt, takes coldness, of course it happens.

  3. As with most surreal kills they have many victims. I do believe that Jack the ripper is no different. I also think that the severity of the later victims were from his becoming more confident and perhaps more angry as well.

  4. Québec looks fantastic, very French looking all the architecture etc…. I think I will add it to the bucket list for places to visit, however, being French myself, their accent when they speak French is the weirdest accent and their own dialect part French part something else is so odd. But it does look beautiful.
Jon's 'snow angel' needs work though. 😂

  5. Love the video. IMO Henry went and apologized to his aunt for taking a few of her trinkets. Henry also was employed. However, the brother,, Walter, was unemployed and did not apologize. I believe he went back later to take more valuables. I do not believe he went to murder his aunt however, for whatever reason he ended up murdering his aunt. I realize you can't convict anyone based on this. But it definitely would need further digging into Walter's alibi.

  6. I wish we knew a bit more about the history of Lucy's personal history with her nephews; but I would guess it is either the brothers, or someone that they told about their Aunt, in their drinking establishment that you mentioned!

  7. BOTH BROTHERS SOUND LIKE PETTY CROOKS WHO GOT BETTER AT THEIR CRAFT
AS TO WHO MURDERED LUCY, I SUSPECT THE YOUNGER BROTHER, BEING, ALWAYS WANTING TO COMPETE WITH THE ELDER,
AND WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO COME UP WITH A POOR STORY, CLEANING SPOTS OFF HIS CLOTHS,
IF THE TOILET ATTENDANT STORY IS TRUE

  8. Hi, out of curiosity, where do you find primary sources for your videos? A google search wouldn’t pull up anything on this case? Thank you, would like to read up more myself

  9. I think the police definitely dropped the ball with this case. They acted more like protectors than officers of the law.
I believe it’s the Chadwick brothers that had murdered their aunt. After all, she could’ve had them arrested for the theft, but she just didn’t want to cause any friction in the family, so she had given them an opportunity to pay for what they had broken. This is a huge motivator for her being killed. They thought that she may owe them since they were related, and she was doing much better financially than them.
May Lucy rest peacefully in her eternal slumber!!
