The Toronto Raptors are confusing the NBA

The Toronto Raptors signed 37-year-old guard Garrett Temple to a 1-year minimum contract and fans are justifiably very confused. What does this mean for Jeff Dowtin Jr? Why does a team that ESPN ranked 25th out of 30 NBA teams need the veteran leadership and services of a player who is 5-6 years removed from his prime? Let’s talk about it.

  3. SB4 will avg. 20-8-10. As a young PG he’ll lead his team to a 40+ win season and a play-in. He’ll be the Raptors All-star and he’ll do this without Siakam. He’ll improve on these #’s every year for the next decade and now you’re talking HOF career. This gives us a decent chance at another title. I’ll take that.

  4. Masai is getting ready for a trade early September with Atlanta. Bufkin can’t be traded until the first week of august and Bogdanovic can’t be traded until September 2nd. Masai is just adding extra leadership p.

  5. Rob, I'm sorry but I can't give Siakam top 20.

Clutch and efficiency should be a prerequisite for players in the top 20. Guys on that level…don't shrink when the lights are bright!

  6. Masai, is the NBA's number one garbage picker. He cleared out his old junk, and added new junk, like he does every year. Masai, can't trade Siakam as a rental, because we are just being offered bad contracts, like Hunter. Have to sign Spicy, and trade him later. A signed Siakam has a lot of trade value.

  7. I hate the Temple signing. However, I am not sure about Dowtin. I can't figure how Dowtin could look like a great defender one game, and then another game be the worst defender on the floor?
I am not a big fan of Champaigne. Banton, could become a decent bench player, but it will take time.

  8. Haters are acting like the 15 players signed to guaranteed contracts with be on the opening night roster.

The NBA trade market will be opening with all those newly drafted rookies being available to trade in the next coming days.

Not to mention if the Hawks are really in on Siakim the Raptors never wanted Collins, Hunter, or Capela they wanted Bogdanovic who can’t be traded till sometime in September.

People act like signing Temple is the end of the world. Look at how bad the 14th-15th man on the roster has been the last few years and how much they contributed. Dowtin Jr a two way player was better and contributed more.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Boucher, Flynn, Young, Porter Jr, or even Achiuwa is traded before the season starts. This is not what the team looks like on opening night.

Temple is a the perfect role player for the 14th-15th spot.

  9. All I will say is wait for the good season the Raptors will have if they hold onto their assets now that Nick the cancer Nurse is gone. Adding some experience is not that bad of an idea as how often does the whole bench play in a game? Just being on the bench and helping out the young players as almost a coach might have more value than a different end of the bench player.

  10. Having good veteran leadership is so important to have on a team (also in a workplace). It was lacking on this team last season in my opinion. Charles Oakley was one of my fav players to watch on the Knicks when I was growing up. I was so happy when he played with the Raptors. He knew his role and he helped the younger players on the team, like Vince.
