  1. Great video as always Ian! Gotrek and Felix for a new reading group with Mira in the future…?

For those interested in the history of Warhammer from edition to edition, how it’s developed from its humble roots and the real world influences that shaped it, I’d heartily recommend checking out Jordan Sorcery’s ongoing series of videos here on YouTube!! In a lot of ways his style and approach is like a fantasy version of what Ian does for 40k here!

  2. Sorry, but this isn't a good video. if people didn't already know everything you were talking about, there is no way that they've learned anything from this video.
You jump around all the time from civilization to civilization all the time, which makes it more confusing. You also just use geographical names that people might not be familiar with. For example, you never mention that Bretonnia is supposed to be roughly the location of today's France, etc.

This video is just reading the "Timeline" section of the book with some illustrations.

  3. Good video, i liked the counter, i imagine that took more effort that it looks to time it right. Oh dear, they dared to rename Malekith, at least anybody that cares exposes themselves. It would be great imo if they introduced like a 'Flashpoint' into subsequent lore, like the Strands of Fate have taken a new course….

  4. Dunno man, my hype for The Old World really died down on the way to the release. 2004 models for 2024 prices, people bitching about the 7 factions not getting support (even though this info was released in like April 2023, people reacted to it in January 2024), the Fantasy Battle boomers using every possibile opportunity to shit on Age of Sigmar for no reason, and youtubers making clickbait videos calling the game dead on arrival. It's nice to see that Ian, the goat of the warhammer youtube sphere, is making some actual quality content around this game.

  5. Its nice that the real wh is back, I never liked the AoS setting, to much high fantasy, but still I know that its all about the money and doing things slow like Horus Heresy, im still dissapointed that armies that were there first like DE or Lizards or Vampires arent there and wont be suported probably for many years to come…

  6. It's interesting to hear this fluff for Cathay I have never come across that I presume was made for Total War. Like all the stuff regarding the Elves and Dwarves is familiar (even if the details might be increased or slightly tweaked), but when you mentioned "Celestial Dragon", I was "What? That's never been a thing before."

  7. Gods I missed this world.
Malekith becoming Malerion for copyright reasons and the very concept of a year 0 in a calendar are oddities I'd need time to adjust to, but kinda feels good to be back. 😅

  8. His name has been Malerion since 2015. Malerion, called the Shadow King, is the Incarnate god of shadow, deception and illusion in the Mortal Realms and one of the gods of the Aelven people. Malerion is a being of great and terrible darkness, a malefic deity whose mastery of the illusory arts is surpassed by none.♠🕷🕸

  9. Thank you that clears the timeline up. It looks like they have chosen to do the 'first battle of Chaos' were Tyrion and Teclis defeat the Chaos and Dark Elf army that was ramaging through Ulthuran and Kislev. Then Teclis goes on to create the colleges of magic in the Empire.
