The Three Preserved Tram Tracks Of Portsmouth

A little jaunt on the e-scooter to three of Portsmouth’s back streets, Rugby Road, Old Commercial Road (Charles Dickens birthplace) and Broad Street. I thought I would show you the preserved cobbled streets and tram tracks that were in operation from 1901 to 1931.
I shared a pasty and custard creams with a pigeon and a seagull at the harbour entrance in Old Portsmouth. The seagull could catch too.

  1. Amazing, I’ve walked over these tracks on many occasion and never thought to actually look down and consider what their history means.
Our history is all around us and hardly anyone ever notices it.

    Ps
‘The Point’ out side the Still & West was my Mums favourite place in Old Portsmouth.
Dad would bring out a couple drinks from the pub and they would sit and watch the ships going in & out of the harbour. 😁
