  1. 1977 immediately came to mind. Tech was picked even higher than #8 in some preseason polls. It seems like #5 or even #3 in SI. I remember some network did a preseason show, maybe ABC because it might have been Keith Jackson sitting in a golf cart with Coach Sloan, either at LCC or HCC, talking about Tech and the coming season. Big deal, big things! The third game Allison breaks his leg and when the season is over, Sloan is gone. Excitement tends to be fleeting at Tech. That's why I'm always tapping the brakes a little.

What I remembered about 2007 was that we had established a history of great offense, but when Ruffin McNeill was installed, Tech finished with strong defense. 2008 was poised with the same powerful offense paired with a defense solution. That was the hype, the difference, and the reason. The OU game deflated us.

  3. For me I see 2 lost and Texas game might be big but Baylor also away be hard Oregon don't come to Lubbock and win the season home opener the new team better be ready 😂
