The Terracotta Army, located near the city of Xi’an, China, is a collection of life-sized clay statues of soldiers and horses that was buried with the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, in the third century BCE.
The Terracotta Army was created to accompany Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. It was believed that these clay soldiers would protect the emperor in the afterlife and serve him in the same way they did during his earthly rule.
These 8,000 life-sized statues of soldiers, along with chariots and horses are highly detailed, and each soldier is unique in terms of facial features, clothing, and hairstyle. #history #explore #terracotta #china #chinahistory #travel #tourism #touristdestination #historical #historicalplaces #archeology #archeological #statue #timeless #army #emperor #king #chineseemperor #warriors
