  2. .Loius Braille was inspired to invent the 6 cell system the blind use today, before that they had to read using embosed letters.
The first school for the blind was "The national institute for blind children" opened in 1784 in Paris and was the school Louis Braille learned and teached at.
It took Louis around 3 decades for the Paris institute to use his system, in 1854 two years after his death they adopted it after being pressured by students and soon other countries followed.
Louis lost his sight in his right eye in an accident with a cobbler's tool, because the eyes have their own immune system he also lost sight in the left eye, leaving him completely blind
The Braille typewriter was invented in 1892 at the Illinois school for the blind, before that they had to use a punch stylus for each dot in the cell.
Braille started out without a W, because French doesn't use it very often.
There are 2 types of English Braille 1st and 2nd grade, 2nd grade is a type of shorthand.
There are Braille codes for more than 133 languages today.

  5. Simon, can you do a video of when freebasing Cocaine was 1st done and when did it become a thing? It seems like there was no Cocaine use between when the government made it illegal in the early 20th century till around 1967. When did Hollywood entertainers 1st use it?

  6. I watch way too many fact videos. Every single one of these things I already knew from various videos from various other channels, half of which are also done by the generic bald fact boy with 69 channels.

  7. Silly Putty was originally invented during WWII as a synthetic substitute for rubber, which was strictly rationed. The inventors came up with a compound that could stretch, bounce, and didn't melt easily. But it wasn't sturdy enough to replace rubber.

Several years after the war, a toy manufacturer and a marketer came across the putty compound. The rest of history, which it also turned out that Silly Putty could pick up by pressing on it if the history was printed on newsprint.
