The film depicts the tragic scenes of World War II in Eastern Europe from the perspective of a young boy. The boy’s parents sent him to the countryside for refuge, but lost contact with him. The boy began to wander from village to village. Because of his black hair and dark eyes, the villagers thought he was a gypsy who would bring bad luck to the village and torture him in various ways. He had been buried in the earth with only his head visible, and crows had pecked at him. He saw people devour each other in a strong chain of violence, degradation and ignorance. As he lay on the tracks and let the train whizz past him, all he felt was the joy of surviving the humiliation. The film presents a beautiful visual texture in black and white light and shadow, and a floating war story unfolds from a magical perspective.
