The story of how Husk lost his Overlord power to Alastor in Hazbin Hotel

Did you know this in hazbin hotel?

In episode 4 of hazbin hotel we found out the shocking revelation that husk was originally an overlord. So what happened?

Well husk explained that he’s an addicted gambler. He was an overlord with a lot of power. One way to gain power is through soul dealing where you trade your soul for a favour. So husk probably gambled souls and worked his way up to the overlord table. In the pilot vaggie explained how alastor mysteriously appeared years ago and toppled overlords who had been in charge for years, one of these being husk. Husk was addicted to gambling, he ended up gambling against alastor who probably cheated and ended up losing everything to him. As a result he’s indebted to alastor, like how angel dust is to valentino.

Overall i thought husk’s backstory was really sad but also inspiring. Although he’s literally a husk of his former self, he doesn’t shy away from helping his friends. Him and angel are both losers, but they have eachother and can help others to get redeemed and sent to heaven.

  1. This makes me wonder if Nifty was a former overlord as well since she and Husk appear behind Alastor when the picture of the overlords during Vaggie's exposition about Alastor appeared. Lol I think it'd be neat but I'm not sure

  2. I absolutely love Husk
He's not just an angry cat anymore, he's someone who believes he can't be fixed or helped but tries to steer others away from the path that he's bern on for decades. He'll definitely play a big role in helping people be redeemed by steering them away and cutting them off from alcohol, and the line "everybody likes bitching to the bartender" is very meaningful because in their drunk state, Husk could get to their emotions easier and try to make them feel better and get better coping mechanisms. He is an amazing character and I really love him

I do have a theory that he dies because of Angel's reckless stupidity though
Maybe Angel goes to fight against the extermination and Husk gives up his life to save him. But that's just my own thoughts.

I definitely still only see Husk as more of a friend for Angel Dust, he doesn’t need a relationship he needs friends and Husk is that perfext friend for him. But thats just me being picky about how ships are formed and how they build up to that point and right now I'm just not seeing it

  4. It's bad being indebted, but oddly enough, Alastor doesn't even seem like he treats Husk that bad. Now granted it could be a front but Alastor treats Husk like a friend that owes him a favor all the time.

  5. As far as overlords go, husk could've done a lot worse than alastor, like alastor pretty much let's him do what he wants, and when alastor summoned him to staff the hotel he specifically considered it cashing in a favor and didn't order him to join the hotel, he just incentivized him by giving him cheap booze
