  1. I honestly love the respect Shadow is getting now, but I think in some media he still has a decent dynamic with Sonic. The Sonic-Shadow dynamic in Sonic Prime honestly kind of gave me Deadpool-Wolverine vibes at times where you have the one guy in a dire situation who never seems serious and then the other more serious antihero trying to keep him focused on fixing the problem.

  2. Honestly, I don’t see this being that much of a problem. Shadow and Sonic are like apples and oranges. Both are good but have their own variety. Sonic was built in the 90s where every character born then has attitude and was too cool for anything while Shadow was made in the early 2000s which was the era of dark, brooding characters who had tragic pasts and only became something greater when they moved past the pain. Both are so different that they are their own separate versions of cool, and I don’t think Shadow getting some real love for an entire year is going to change how equally cool Sonic is, especially since he’ll always be Sega’s #1 and the reason we keep coming back to these games. Honestly, I’m happy that Shadow is getting all this attention but moving forward I hope he has the same amount of love and relevance in the series as Sonic because at this point I see him and Sonic as the Sasuke and Naruto of the series. Both different but having equal importance with separate stories that are just as engaging as the other. So long as Sega retains something like that for the pair then I don’t think we’ll have a problem.

  3. It's legitimately not a debate.

No amount of mischaracterization or flanderization will change the fact that Shadow has always been the better, coolest, strongest, and best hedgehog in the series. Even at Sonic's best portrayal Shadow is better. People seem to think otherwise because they rely on poorly written versions of Shadow.

One dude literally has air-shoes, fucking flight (without super form unlike the blue hedgehog), can actually throw hands/fight (without the need for pity writing), red streaks on his body, inhibitor rings RESTRICTING HIS FULL POWER, a teleporting homing attack, can also teleport at will, drives a damn motorcycle which counts as 2 points with the akira slide component, is immortal, has an actual and intriguing backstory, chaos powers (EVEN WITHOUT THE EMERALDS – the black hedgehog can literally hardness chaos powers at will whenever he wants), and imma just stop here despite there being more I can add. So yeah this ain't even the full list, let that sink in.

Like, fuck outta here with this "subjective" or "nostalgic" nonsense. Shadow is and has always been cooler than Sonic, and that was actually an intentional design choice from the onset… which they initially succeeded at. We all know Sonic is amazing when he's written properly, but Shadow exceeds that when he is too and given the budget to actual tackle his more complex character aspects, whether it be chaos powers, more indepth storytelling, etc. (Boy if Sh05 was more polished in certain areas, it'd explicitly… even today… easily be a top 5 "Sonic" game.)

  4. Shadow had always been shown to be superior than Sonic. At least, initially at every game. Like in battles, it took a collective effort of both Emerl and Sonic to beat Shadow. And even in 06, Shadow has to save Sonic first. In SA2 dude literally was one step ahead of Sonic on their initial meeting. This is further expanded in X where he did beat Sonic. So idk how you can come up with the conclusion that Sonic is equal or better than Shadow ever was.

  5. I love Sonic and Shadow for different reasons. Sonic is uplifting, shadow is encouraging to those who have been in dark places. Both characters inspire us to be better. Kind of how dragonball characters do it with their speeches about strength and motivations

  6. One thing I realised about the sonic franchise is that Shadow is always portrayed as more cooler and even outright stronger in other sonic media(sonic prime, sonic x and seems to be the case for sonic movie 3.)

  7. In the games they're pretty evenly matched in terms of power but with different builds, with Shadow definitely having more varied moves. However in the movies and in Sonic Prime they're trying to re-frame Sonic as more of a self-insert character, as opposed to the shonen god he is in the games. Sonic serves as the stand-in for a child viewer for those properties, and so Sonic is supposed to undergo character development and grow overtime. Whereas in the games Sonic is already a fully realized matured character whom other characters develop through and react to. He's the rock around which the world revolves and who drives other characters to become better.

As a character though, Shadow can't help but be more compelling because he actually has a backstory and character arc, as opposed to Sonic who's already the fully realized best version of himself and who's backstory is left an unexplained mystery.

  8. I always felt like Shadow is stronger than Sonic in nearly every stat and abilities which is why Sonic rather not fight him, but Sonic is like the embodiment of his own philosophies which makes him always come on top when he’s needed the most, basically he’s unstoppable even if you beat him.

  9. To me, Sonic & Shadow are like two halfs of a whole; something like Naruto & Sasuke, Goku & Vegeta, Lelouch & Suzaku, etc. They both have their cool & not so cool points. It does feel like Shadow is favored more & I just hope they give some good writing for Sonic as well. They've done it before with Black Knight, Unleashed & SA2

  10. Shadow is the equivalent of Vegeta in DBZ. If there was a serious battle (in canon) between him and Sonic, Sonic would ultimately win because plot armor. That isn't to say Shadow isn't a great character though. He definitely has more depth and complexity than Sonic, but honestly I love them both equally

  11. I think Sega is going on a reverse-smear campaign of all the major characters. They fixed Sonic's reputation a bit, now it's time to un-edge Shadow and make him the SA2 character again.

I hope after this, they go on some sort of adventure together. Put all of this build-up into some big catharsis where they flesh out the good stuff in Frontiers, max out on the stories of each of the characters, and maybe include a few peripheral characters. Maybe Team Sonic & Team Dark together. I think the new Sonic and new Shadow are more balanced and would have incredible chemistry.

I grew up in a not-the-best-home so I can relate to Shadow a lot more, so he's always my GOAT. But, I like to think of it like this. Shadow IS the ultimate lifeform, but if that's true… then what the hell does that make Sonic, who can take him toe-to-toe and is the only one to ever consistently outshine him when it mattered? That would be such a cool point to explore for me… what makes Sonic so powerful other than protagonist syndrome?

  12. Such a Clickbait video and even the point system is so dumb just let people enjoy their characters who cares if someone thinks shadow is better than sonic or vice versa in the end it all circle back to Sonic so there’s no definitive but Sonic is the main character

  13. I think part of the reason why sonic isn't as popular as shadow it's cus he doesn't have a proper backstory, which makes Sonic not be that sympathetic to the fans. Half his enemies/rivals have backstories and have reasons to act the way they do. But we don't really know that much about sonic other than he beats villains and likes to explore.we don't even know how he got his powers or how can he use chaos energy that easily.
