The Song of Fate: Remuria & the Heavenly Principles (Genshin Impact 4.6 Lore, Theory, & Speculation)

Spoilers for the uhhh quest that starts in Petrichor. The cat one.

Here’s an overview of Remus and Remuria, and Sybilla, the golden prophetess bee. We talk a lot about fate, Fortuna, and Musica Mundana (or Musica Universalis, or the Music of the Spheres). It has a lot to do with Descenders, the Holy Blade, and the Narzissenkreuz Ordo. I also talk about the Sourcesong from Aranyaka. And then I cook up some ideas about the Celestial Nails.

  1. Wow! I really like that connection between how the nail can be a tone fork and it can pierce the leylines and change fate. It seems like it's a very plausible direction for it to actually be true and confirmed 😆👍

  2. Wings of Shimmering Galaxy text has this suspicious line: “If the sky, the stones, the sea and the stars would reply, then music might flow through all things.” This almost sounds like Venti wanted to tune things in the world with his own music=fate. I wonder how much he knows…

  3. Stuff like this is why I love this game so much. They could easily tell the overarching story they're telling without rooting it in all of these historical philosophies and concepts, but the fact that they do makes it feel that much more tangible and rewarding. Thanks for putting all of this together, I'd followed the ideas presented relatively well on my own, but the real-world analogs help tie to together and illuminate even more to be curious about.

BTW, another thing to note about Remus' ship, was that (according to the new artifact set), it was made from the silver tree. So, this massive instrument being used to control Fate was made from an Irminsul tree? 🤔

  4. I also think its telling that the abyss lectures that appear are electro and pyro. Especially since the colors that keep showing up in reference to the abyss are red and purple. If you apply your turning fork idea- does that mean fate is tuned by passion (pyro) and eternity(consistency over time?) Perhaps?

  5. Me before 4.6: "Wow, Celestia really freaked out over the whole Egeria creating Fontainians thing, why would they impose such a weirdly specific "you are bound to a fate you will not escape" punishment and also why would they have a problem with a new race of humans existing in the first place?"
    Me after 4.6: "Ah."

  6. Theory:

So, after the traveler resonates (another musical reference) with all the elements, some major event/battle/confrontation will cause their will for the world to overwrite the Fortuna. The Traveler will be able to summon their descender sword like their twin (not the crappy discount bin version they currently wield) and send pulses of power throughout Teyvat that will further spread once they reach each Statue of the Seven and resonate with them, and defeat Celestia with its sick, Fortuna-smashing beats. Music travels in sound waves, and waves that crash into each other can cause interference or a complete cancelation of the waves. The Samsara cycle is finally broken.

  7. Does the name Phobos have any deeper significance? I know it's the name of one of Mars's moons and means "fear", but I'm not sure how (if) any of this transpates to Genshin.
The 3 Moon Sisters all have music-related names, so it just seems odd that now a symphony has a moon-related name.

  8. So…the music of the Primordial one replaced the original music of mundana of Teyvat? The rules of the Celestia and the fate of Teyvat is a big symphony, which was alluded to in the beginning of the 4.6 livestream (quoting a book in the game). But there was a mistranslation—the book actually says that Remus understood the plan of the Primordial (one) from the cycle of Seven days and the sounds of the winds blowing.

  9. Trying to udnerstand Egerias timeline here too… Was Egeria a being, had some power of prophecy, then got imprisoned, then received a Gnosis near the end of Remuria and went and made Fontaine? or Did Egeria have the gnosis sooner than that?
