The "Slow Burn" of Star Wars Andor Will Be Worth It! Prepare to Cry For the Characters

The Andor series has been called a slow burn. But that will pay off. We are getting to know some of the characters too quickly for them to survive. Prepare to cry.

  1. Wow, Gerald…you are on a roll brother. Great work. You do great stuff when ignoring the Fetts.
    here's my episode 5 take:
    1. The plan is to steal the quarterly payroll of one sector, not the entire empire.

This Clone Wars, er, Bad BAtch, eh? Rebels show features Cassian Andor…wait, the show is ANDOR. Okay then.

As such Cassian wills the team to the win, although 3-5 teammates may die in the process. In pulling off the mission,

Cassian becomes a wanted man Across the Galaxy…AND a folklore hero to All the disaffected, downtrodden races/folks

    across the Galaxy.

    2. Cassian becomes the face of the rebellion. Long live Cassian Andor!

Hopefully, Mon dumps her elitist/pompous family. She won't.
Some think Vel is Luthen's daughter. I don't.
Paladin Luthen will be back to his arrogant self after pulling off the heist
Syril goes to work for the ISB female LT. Becomes obsessive about capturing Andor.

  2. Didn't Andor/Casseo say in Rogue 1 that he had done some dirty/ugly things. Or something to that affect. And he had been fighting since he was 6.yrs old. He has already killed. Wonder if they will blow the damn? One thing if for sure. It will be fun to watch.

  3. Wonder too about the business models behind release schedules. Do binge style releases generate more subscriptions through earned media vs. staggered releases? I have no idea but follow the money and answers will be found!

  4. Any thoughts on the submachine guns used by Andor's "gang?" At first I thought the producers were being amazingly cheap, but then I heard the characters refer to them as guns and not blasters more than once.

Could they simply not afford blasters? I don' think I have ever seen actual guns in Star Wars ever before. So this is either something new or an unbelievable oversight by the production. What do you think?

  5. @Star Wars Fanatic Gosh Gerald, I am going to feel like such a bad Star Wars fan and actually feel guilty for feeling the way I do about Andor,😔 wondering whether something is wrong with me….if I need to go to a Star Wars hospital. This series is truly breaking my Star Wars heart 💔💔but not due to the possible deaths of certain characters, in fact quite the opposite.

I honestly can't emotionally connect with the rebel characters at all, unlike in Rogue One where the deaths of Jyn Uros, K2SO, Baze and Chirrut had such such an emotional impact on me, For me personally, in Andor, I care more about bix, Luthen and of course Mon Mothma.

I don't find the series to be a slow burn. From what I have been hearing from other fans and even how I am feeling, the show seems to be imbalanced or not proportionate in terms of themes. Quite a few scenes are coming across as unnecessary filler scenes and the audience is being told the same thing over and over again about things we all already know, e.g the mummy helicopter breakfast scene. Lucasfilm/Disney have relied on the loyalty of Star Wars audience to get through the first few episodes but it appears the fans are losing interest.

The story line is decent indeed but I think the majority of fans were expecting the series to be like Rogue One. Perhaps if the storyline and title of the show wasn't focused on Andor as from my understanding, many fans don't find him very interesting ( and I am one of them) but on the formation of the Rebellion, just like in Rogue One, there possibly could be more interest in this series.

  6. I think an appearance by the Emperor isn’t out of the question and I agree that some fans may change their minds once the season is concluded and they can binge it, they’ll forgive the slow pace.

  7. Based on the trailer Andor and at least Vell will survive. There’s a snap shot of Vell speaking with Mon Mothma. The rest I see dying. We will probably see Saw Guerrera as well. I don’t see Luthen surviving.

In Rebels Mon Mothma made a speech to the senate denouncing the Emperor as a tyrant etc. that’s why she had to flee. As far as I remember.

  9. I don't think Andor is a particularly slow, it's just real television, similar to the format that shows used in old linear TV. Has anyone tried watching something for the early Nineties or the eighties recently? I tried to do that with some anime I watched at the time and it was excruciating. I think our attention spans are ruined by binge watching and short format video.
Is the audience that has the issues and that is a worrying trend because it limits possibilities for good story telling.
