  1. It's not common that I agree with a Nintendo opinion (especially within this lawsuit alone!) but I know far more people that just pirated ToTK instead of buying it, Nintendo's point of losing sales holds some water. Just looking around the internet has so, so many people saying "just pirate it" or "hack your Switch and emulate it" which people think is too complicated, leaving them with the first option. Not to mention it requires a first model Switch.

Yuzu as a project had it coming (one thing that wasn't mentioned was Raptor, their NSO replacement they had up for less than a day before realizing they may draw Nintendo's attention) but I feel bad for its developers, especially the head of the team. Same head developer for both Citra and Yuzu, and likely that's why Citra went. It doesn't seem explicitly requested, but given some of the legalese I think they played it safe. 🙁

  2. Nintendo hates its fans they only want consumers. Tournaments, doujins, emulators, they hate anyone who doesn't just buy a game then consume it alone in a dark room, preferably without internet.

  3. I think Hbomberguy said it perfectly a few years ago.* When he said Rooster-Teeth was great, but Rooster-Teeth™ is pretty sucky.

I'm paraphrasing to the point of putting words in his mouth. But he's been right.
RvB ended at season 12-13 (whichever had church's final speech) Thats the last time they had brilliant quality.

It sucks, RvB hit me at the perfect time to set me down the road of 3d animation/modeling.

Rooster-Teeth™ didn't even die or explode the way companies like that normally do. It died like a dolphin on a boat.
Flopping around panicked like a fish, ^ , dying slow, because while it can kinda breath, its not sustainable. People just watch but are uncomfortable and take two steps back. Even if they tey to help the Dolphin would hurt them in turn.

Between lashing out at fans, removing/ignoring criticism, whatever the dramas where (I avoid those, nonema'business)
Then you get to mismanagement. I…
I got into animation/blender/coding because of them, Gmod, solidworks in school, my cousin, my gr-uncle and a robot octopus arm tutorial on youtube.
Despite that being many reasons. They where a specific one.

Aagh I rambled too long. Sorry.
    RvB mattered too much.
I was 14 when I watched it. In only 5 near 6 years it's still a big inspiration.
Then after season 12-13 they just meandered.

I could, and someday will, ramble forever.
I'm glad modern day Rooster-Teeth™ is going away, I hope the next generation of indie animation of storytelling is both better and gets a more graceful 'put to rest'.

Good podcast episode so far. Im only 20-27-ish mins in but its chill.
I don't see the shadow guys with the weird eyes among you…
Though I do hear metal clinking in my wardrobe. Guess I'll go give it my photos of the Lowery gravestone in Galway.

    * Hbomberguy said this in his R.VV.B.Y. video.

  4. The Switch emulator hoohah is kinda understandable, but canning the 3DS emulator makes Nintendo the real criminals. No false law can morally stand in the way of games preservation, especially if morality holds more visceral currency than "law". If you see some corpo swinging their dick around like that, you gotta go grab that great stone sickle in order to claim their place of power for your own. When a chilling effect rears its head, you gotta respond with a way fiercer chilling effect to give pause to the enemies of mankind. Use the enemy's own weapons against them, as well as whatever nightmare-constructs you have laying around.

On a lighter note, I do love that Cameron's using the show to signal-boost New Zealand devs.

  5. Ooh, Kenshi is a game I am not sure you could get the appeal of unless you spent at least twenty hours mining copper to sell and getting past the initial hurdle.

One of the best builds can just be summarized as "get no weapon and just have the shit kicked out of you for 50 hours until you're a master martial artist."

  6. I like you guys, but you could have done a bit more research on the yuzu section.

The patreon bit is a nothingburger, its completely legal to receive money for emulation. the only way you could say that it was a bad decision is if it attracted nintendos' attention, but legally speaking nothing wrong with it.

As for yuzu holding totk pre-launch fixes behind the patreon paywall? Completely false.

1: yuzu is publicly open source, if you went to their github, you could freely download the uncompiled version of the early access fork of yuzu, the only thing you got with patreon was a pre-compiled version.

2: the yuzu team did NOT develop anything for totk pre-release, any patches made for totk before it officially launched were mods made by different people.

The drm situation IS where nintendo could have been legally correct unfortunately

  7. Hearing that everyone basically started with yakuza 0 and had to try repeatedly to get into it amuses me because I started with Kiwami like 3 weeks ago, and it instantly clicked why this series is amazing. So to hear that it only gets better and better after Kiwami fills me with so much joy and fear of where this will all go.

  8. Okay, Billy, you have to check the racial stat bonuses in Kenshi. Hiver workers can generally run super fast, and you can exploit that by having them just run away from combat until you can find something/someone to train combat skills on. They also eat half as much as a regular human does, and the workers are excellent general laborers. It's one of the only games where playing as a human to start is a terrible idea.

Also, while I'm at it, money in Kenshi isn't actually that important. The stats of your characters is the main factor in progressing and furthering your in-game progress. If you really struggle with leveling combat for characters, train a ninja character and use the "assassination" skill to knock out individual enemies in a group, then mob them the moment they become conscious. It can be pretty tedious, but with a game like Kenshi, that is kind of the point.

  9. I think Billy might be the first person I've ever heard say they liked Yakuza 5 compared to the rest of the series.
It's so fucking long and has so much filler. "Finish it in 10 hours" my ass.

  10. Companies like Rooster Teeth get sold so that the founders can cash out and retire. The legacy media company in turn gets a few neat IPs and an established audience it can aggressively milk for short-term gains.

  13. I feel like I'm trying to tweet help to some one… The tutorial episode is long, but dense, detailed, and useful. It should at least get the spirit of the community across to you. Min/Max to explore man! Kenshi has a lot of places, people, and 'people' to meet! And you want to not die in the attempt. Good luck! Say hi to Mandy and the gang for me
