  1. I was 14 when this happened, living just south of Shell Lake with my family of 7. I remembered it just like it is reported here. I had an uncle who was schizophrenic after WW11 and was staying with us, off and on. My sisters and I were concerned for our safety. My mother and grandmother thought he was harmless. We weren't sure???

  2. Butting in to say Electro Shock Therapy is still very much in use and can be MIRACULOUS to some mental illness sufferers. The patient is fully sedated before a current is passed through a targeted area of the brain. Please don't discount a treatment because it has been abused in the past.

  3. It's ridiculous that you had to reupload this video. YouTube has some really stupid rules. All the same, it's another great episode. I believe that the lone survivor escaped because Victor failed to notice her. Someone like Victor should have never been allowed out of a psychiatric hospital without a full and proper assessment that he was no longer a threat to society. Cases like his are far too common.

  5. To a paranoid schizophrenic, the devil does indeed make them do it. Their hallucinations completely overtake and override any will and reasoning of their own. No remorse is not applicable to a schizophrenic. They are not in their right mind. They are the legal definition of insane.

  6. Victor Ernest Hoffman suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. He was what you call medication resistant schizophrenia. Because decades after, he was still hearing voices and seeing monsters. Poor family and poor guy. May they all be in God's glory.

  7. This horrific tragedy could have been prevented which makes it even sadder professional treatment of mental health patients needs to be improved and most if not all need to be monitored and not discharged from treatment

  8. Very sad. I do enjoy hearing the older cases and the cases from other countries. Thank you for all the research, time, and dedication you put into the stories you tell. πŸ’œπŸ¦Œ
