  1. Shouldnt tell people to stand under a doorway in an earthquake. Todays advice everywhere suggests:
'DO NOT stand in a doorway. You are safer under a table. In modern houses, doorways are no stronger than any other part of the house. Doorways do not protect you from the most likely source of injury − falling or flying objects.'

  2. hey, Simon and Co. , I think you're being plaigiarized, or some source has been directly copied into your script, as the phrase "it also serves as a grim reminder…" at 8:16 is word-for-word against a Wewin "you wont believe-" video compilation regarding natural disasters.
Just FYI, I think you're all great, all howevermany channels you produce. cheers

  3. DON’T stand in a doorway. Unless you want to be cut in half when the door scissors flat when the house collapses. Lie down BESIDE a sturdy piece of furniture. Standing in a doorway was fine when there were arched doors.

  4. Sorry for being an asshat, but the famine did not last for year. The severe climatechange (~1,5K ) killed any and all crop in that season. All seeds and elder plants braced the storm. Just as we keep our seeds in the arctic this decrease in average temperature could not effectively harm "eastablished life". Reduce may even erase harvest, but as soon as the plants felt the conditions were right, blooming started.

  5. I like this guy and think some of his videos are really brilliant but the macabre fascination with disaster and human suffering – like some kind of weird, dark suffering porn that so many channels indulge in… I wish this channel would not.. yeah the “human story”… sure

  6. Video idea: grenfell tower fire.

This would be the best channel for it imo. Could go into the controversy of it's construction, the controversy of the aftermath and lack of charges for those responsible. Those who remain missing. And even the dark truth behind neoliberalist policies.

    Justice for the 72

  7. Even so, if we recon percentage rather than actual number of people dead, the worst day would have been long before this one, would it not? I am thinking of the eruption of the supervulcano on Sumatra some 70 thousands years ago, almost erasing all of our species, creating a real bottelneck as I have understood it.

  8. Fun Fact: ‘apocalyptic’ doesn’t mean ‘end of the world’ by any stretch.

It’s from the Greek verb ‘apokalypsis’ meaning ‘to unveil or reveal’, much like a sculptor unveils their work. You can see the outline of the form under the veil but the detail becomes clear once the veil comes off.

It wasn’t a very unique event either.
