In preparation for Return to Monkey Island, The Secret of Monkey Island™: Special Edition faithfully re-imagines the internationally-acclaimed classic game (originally released in 1990) for original and new audiences alike.

The development team at LucasArts is bringing the game into the modern era with an all new re-imagined contemporary art style, a re-mastered musical score, full voiceover, and an in-depth hint system to help players through the game’s side-splitting puzzles. Purists will also delight in the ability to seamlessly switch between the updated hand-drawn re-imagining and the original classic version.

  1. I've heard tales of the simplistic and comedic genious of Monkey Island most of my journey being a game dev. Gotta say it lives up to the legends quite nicely! Simple looking choice trees lead into mazes of interesting potential content lurking behind such a charming 'treasure island' sort of view that makes you wonder why nobody ever thought to make it into a movie or TV series when that craze was going on. I'm actually taking notes as choice trees, hidden functions and such are all part of my toolkit I use on any team so I do hope you continue!

  2. I'd like to see this played out to the end. I've done the original Monkey island game way back when it was still pretty new.

    Back in the 90's there were a lot of point-n-click games like this one (a couple of my favorites was Leisure Suit Larry, Quest for Glory & the series that spun from those). I played quite a few of these kinds of games back then & there's one thing I learned from Al Lowe (creator of the LSL series) that has come in quite handy…"Save early, save often." You never really know when you're going to run into a tricky spot & have to reload, especially when that tricky spot was lethal to your character.
