Achara and Michael watch the childhood classic The Sandlot for the very first time! The Sandlot is a nostalgic coming-of-age story about a group of boys who bond over their shared love of baseball during one unforgettable summer in the 1960s. In case, you skipped the intro, Michael and Achara watched the film on the day that James Earl Jones passed away and they had not heard the news of his passing until after the recording happened. This is why there is no mention to his passing during the reaction.
The Sandlot was directed by David Mickey Evans (Radio Flyer, First Kid, The Final Season). The film stars Tom Guiry (U-571, Black Hawk Down, Mystic River) as Scotty Smalls, Mike Vitar (D2: The Mighty Ducks, D3: The Mighty Ducks, The Sandlot) as Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez, and Patrick Renna (The Big Green, Son in Law, GLOW) as Hamilton “Ham” Porter. Other key cast members include Chauncey Leopardi (Freaks and Geeks, Gilmore Girls, The Sandlot) as Squints, and James Earl Jones (Star Wars, Field of Dreams, The Lion King) as Mr. Mertle.

Our childhood movies were the best
This was one of my favorite movies of all time. I don’t think I watched it in theaters, but when it came out on video, I would watch it all the time. I try to watch it every few years if not every year. I used to have a crush on the kid that played Benny.
If you haven't already you should watch Stand By Me. It has the same feel as this movie.
Have you seen The Mighty Ducks? I think you two specifically should watch next. It has the same vibe and coming of age story. <3 Young Benny is in the final two movies. If you end up watching all of them. I don't think many reaction channels have done those movies.
I cried with you at the end Achara. I've seen this movie when I was a kid through the 90s. It was a staple movie as a kid. I loved getting to see it after all these years and everything you guys said hits home. Very nostalgic and a simpler time.
Little Rascals is a must watch
What’s always bothered me about this movie is that he actually did have a ball. He was playing catch with his stepdad a few days earlier.

I remember when I had to forge my parents signature to go on a field trip. I knew my parents would've wanted me to go anyway and my penmanship was virtually identical as my parents since they taught me. So no harm done. Just as long as I didn't get myself hurt or mangled. Which almost happened when I took a tumble down a steep rocky hill…but I managed not to get injured. Not single scratch, thank God! 😅
I loved this movie. I was just a little bit younger than the kid in the film, but it was very authentic to how we interacted even in the 1990s. Although I never cussed or be foul mouthed like those kids. My dad made sure of that early. Fun time.
RIP James Earl Jones. You were never the lead, but you enriched every film with your presence. Thank for sharing your gift. God be with you. 😔
The brothers Timmy and Tommy Timmons were funny. The actor who played Tommy (who was the younger brother) never actually had any lines to read, but instead was just told to repeat everything Timmy said.

This is the movie of a generation. It's so quotable and has great messages involved. It's one of my all-time favorite movies and I watch it at least once a year. It really gives you that feeling of being a kid again. So much nostalgia.

I don't know if you already have, but James Earl Jones is also in another baseball story, "Field of Dreams". Great job on this one. BTW my first car was the same year as the chevy in the drive at the beginning of the movie except mine was white and a convertible. It was a first real form of freedom. I was a 50s-60s kid and It was a great time to grow up. Lots of friends to play with and 50 acres of deep woods across the street if I wanted to be alone.

As someone who used chewing tobacco regularly, it can be a lot. I know the feeling of too much nicotine. In my case, it was chain smoking two, Churchill-length cigars back to back. Real cigars, not gas station cigarillos. I was basically smoking for three hours straight. Cigars are delicious, but now I make it a point to limit myself to two robusto size per year.
You will catch a baseball. It might seem fast and scary but you’ll catch it.

The day of the pool shoot was the coldest of the whole shoot. The kids were suffering.
The "Rookie of the Year" is not as good, but it is still a fun kids movie.
This movie transcends generation, gender or even if you like baseball or not.

I am an old guy and have been sick for a while. I stumbled on to you two doing this. This is one of the most wonderful things I have ever watched. Not just the movie but the both of you gave me more happiness than I have had in a very long time. I pray that God blesses you both for the rest of your lives .
