The rescue efforts were called off because they deemed the ruins of the building unstable – you think?
greed
Such a greedy, disgusting and utterly tragic incident.. Its sad to not feel a sense of disbelief when hearing about such disasters being caused by negligence and greed. It just feels so commonplace in today's world. Quite grimy individuals us humans can be.
Please do clip about the tragedy of the ferry off the coast of Jeju. 🙏
Not harsh enough sentences for the death sentence they dealt over 500 people.
I went there inside the department store in 1994 just before it was destroyed. And I watch the TV about that happen in USA. I was so worried and felt so sad for the casualities and the injured!!!!!! Wonder If I were there at that momentsssss
Watch the computer simulation of the Sampoong collapse and the Florida apartment collapse in 2021. They fell exactly the same way, looking like houses of cards that started on one side then fell the rest of the way to the other.
Weird the politicians got a slap on the hand when they are just a culpable for homicide. Also motivated by the same greed as the business man. Disgusting. May if corrupt politicians were actually punished they would stop taking bribes.
7:22 for anyone wonder he's not referring to 9/11, he's referring to the
Dhaka garment factory collapse, which killed an estimated 1,000+ people, in 2013. Sadly this even is almost never talked about.
bug people i swear
I totally misread this as a shampoo wearhouse collapse.
0:45 you can almost hear the air quotes when he says "democratic"
Cell phones .. 1995 .. not many had the huge ass chunky 6 inch long Motorola phones back then .. so locating by using cell phones doesn’t make sense at all.. using Pagers to lactate would make more sense. Pagers we’re a big thing in the 90’s
They should get this A hole and drop HEAVY CONCRETE PLATES on his arms and legs and leave him be until he stops making noise. Giving him dirty water to prolong it all.
You think that's cruel?
Ask the HUNDREDS OF DEAD AND FAMILIES OF THOSE KILLED…
I am certain they want justice.
It's not just that jerk walks out
While other's for for a few bucks!
This was NO ACCIDENT
IT WAS DELIBERATE MURDER
The weapon being the building.
It's no different than running you ober with a car. Waiting for you to go outside to run you over.
At every step they cheated to get this deathtrap constructed. No different than me steering for you, no matter where you run…
That's why 10 years are laughable!!
They are not human and should be treated appropriately. Eye for an eye
You think anyone else would dare building this kinda nonsense if that's the case?! Hell no.
That's called being taken responsible. Not this "sometimes some get a slap on the wrist" crap but legit freaking consequences.
Money and jail won't bring anyone back
Getting rid of those shots will however prevent others from being a victim of rotten greed.
These are the types of situations where public execution is warranted. Haul them to town square, throw a rope over a branch, and let people watch and cheer while they kick at the end of it.
he took 500 people's lives and he only got 10 years!?!?!
hes a murderer! holy crap.
I can't believe it..
money is an imaginary human concept that doesn't make sense, why are people so hung up on it?? dying and killing people over literally pieces of printer paper with ink on it….wtf.
humans are insufferable.
There was a lot of things that contributed to this event. The 5th floor that was added even though the structure could not support it. The restaurants added to the top floor and heating added in the floors increased the pressure. The columns were smaller than originally designed. The air conditioning units dragged across the roof 2 years before the collapse. The greed of the owner not wanting to shut down the store the day of the collapse even though the structural engineer told him it needed to be shut down. This was a truly sad story 🙁
The moment the chair man decided to evacuate knowing the possibility should be charged with 500 + murders and held for life. 😐
"But it was wealth built on unstable foundations." Nice bit of writing, that.
Between this, the Sewol disaster and many others, you can see how callous Koreans are in pursuit of a quick buck.
Thank you so much for all the videos! Some days I find the modern rules rather stifling, but after watching these videos one realises the history behind all of the tragedies and the importance of learning to ensure they never happen again.
There is a South Koren show called Signal (kind of sci fi time travel melodrama) that has a side plot about the kind of development that was happening in Seoul that caused an accident like this to happen. Good show.
This reminds me of that tragedy, 9/11. You remember that?
Should've been 500+ counts of murder, KNEW it was going to fall, yet they didn't even try to get shoppers out!
Se—oul not Soul
that structure collapsed under its own weight due to poor management. someone is directly responsible for this
The Fact this took place literally on my 8th Birthday kind Haunts me a little… Nowadays as I realize the moment I celebrated life. 502 lost there’s… RIP to the Victims. And in the end it’s always money or laziness that gets people killed!
I hope those execs suffer eternally
The building was very ugly and deserved to be demolished, but not like that.
First
On top of a landfill? How did they get down to bedrock for the colu…. Oh wait they didn't. WTH!
Incompetence+incompetence= dumbass
I love this channel. This one was truly tragic, heinous and evil.
Lol South Korea was never democratic. You obviously don't know what you're talking about, or you never lived here.
Unreal…. bottom line over keeping hands safe is a terrible recipe to start with!
