Madden NFL 23 is a bad game. But it’s only the latest bad Madden. Over the last decade and a half, Madden has been spiraling out of control. Not only are older Madden titles like Madden 07 on the PlayStation 2 deeper games, but other titles from that era such as NFL GameDay and ESPN NFL 2K5 also do a lot of things better than Madden 23. It’s a bad game with a perfect storm of chaos allowing it to be successful. It’s a scam. Id love to see you review the Madden game on 3DS, it’s a hot mess and it’s a shame more people don’t know about it.
Just play Pro Strategy Football on PC. Retro graphics and the career mode isn't very deep at all, but it's call your plays and watch them play out kind of game first and foremost. Regardless, the results are pretty realistic and the game is fun, which are two things you can't say about Madden.

I hated Madden 20. Everytime I threw the ball, it got intercepted. I was playing against my brother and I was getting mad to the point I started cursing at him and the game. I have Madden 06 for PS2 and if I have a choice to play Madden 06 or Madden 20, I would choose Madden 06 over Madden 20 in a heartbeat. It's sad that I prefer playing a Madden game from 2005 instead of a Madden game from 2019. John Madden should come out of his grave and beat the living hell out of the EA big wigs for ruining his name.
that export feature omg so glad you mentioned that. i once drafted this friggen 6'9 WR on the rams. marc bulger, steven jackson, and the 6'9 freek Ian Sindle. haha i will never forget that team. i exported them and would play against my family with them outside of my franchise
Sadly they don't give a fuck if we are mad or not. They only care about money not football and ea will never go back to their roots and care about fans first. Fuck them.

Madden 25 (madden 14) on the PS3 was the last best madden.. you could export draft classes from ncaa 14 and it made the whole experience really cool.. they still update rosters for ncaa 14 and madden 25 I still play them on PS3 to this day.
why isnt there a decline of mlb the show or decline of baseball games? Its a video i'd really love to see one day!
The level of detail and knowledge in this video is more effort than anyone at EA is willing to put in!

This makes me want to go buy a copy of NFL 2K5. I stopped playing Madden years ago (mostly because the Panthers stopped giving a sh!t about winning and I took more of an interest in hockey and the football that uses the foot) but I completely agree that the games today are total garbage and the video games are what keep my interest in the sport when my team doesn't do well. Hell, I briefly got heavy into basketball when 2k20 (I think that was the year?) was free on ps plus and I liked how in depth the game modes were compared to Madden. Never gonna touch that series again.
It's obvious that the developers in concert with the NFL, desired to create a compliant and dumbed down future fanbase. Stripping away anything related to what people see in real life makes the game limited in enjoyment.
There is no agency whatsoever in these games that would immerse someone into realistic situations, which would help mold a smarter fanbase. Therefore, a young kid would not understand why a player would want to hold out, or the business of running a company complete with sponsors, stadium naming rights and the prospect of a relocation based upon the limits or potential of a specific location.
It also completely undermines the payers' union, and boils the players down to mere instruments. Bringing in Tony Romo and Jim Nantz would be much better than Charles and Brandon as they are the A team for big games in real life.
This video also doesn't mention the soundtrack issues in-depth. Who remembers the Pharaoh Monch Madden theme? Why not have random artists…actually be an artist and write a theme for a season?

Remember looking forward to the next game? Remember not caring it was a yearly title simply because you wanted football? Especially for when the real season was over? Those were the days.
It's become more of a competitive game if you play online at all. There's a certain meta they have to maintain, but still miss those extra modes.
Another feature madden dropped was the hot streak/cold streak feature. I remember on madden 11 or 12 when your team & certain players win & play well they’d show them as a key player with a fire or ice symbol next to their name during the load up screen.
Those old mini games especially the field goal kicking were my whole life as a kid.

Good cause you say? The organisation was shut down for fraud. NFL needs to be "inclusive" to everything. An option to not use them would've been nice. EA is nothing like it used to be. Neither is the NFL. I do miss it 😔
Last Madden I owned was 02, for these exact reasons… Hell, I don't even play sports games anymore, and I love football and played for over 10yrs, sad.

I havent bought or played a madden since the trash they released on next gen xbox 360 being madden 06. It sucks to see how the years went by not being able to play a nfl game with my favorite players who were on the team at that time……… really sad
I swear if EA simply combined the features in all 3 (fifa, madden, and NHL) franchise modes they'd have great games
My favorite Madden game is a 3-way tie between Madden 03, 04, and 05. And Madden 12 is the last Madden game I truly loved playing
