The Rise of Skywalker: Ballpoint Pen vs. First Order

A load-bearing costume element is removed and reinvented. New wheels for a new generation of fans. But we kind of liked the old ones.

Paying tribute to Threepio is a kind thing. The galaxy is full of possibilities; by drawing on the depth of what we already know, the lore will lead us to the right stories. It takes less effort and gives a better result.

Somehow, the galaxy will end in a matter of minutes. We can practically hear the seconds ticking down. Can you feel the writer’s hand on the dial?

  1. It's because Disney's writing process probably starts with a checklist: "Who's the hero?" "What's his or her slogan?" "Who are the side characters" "What makes them unique?" "Who's the villain?" "What makes them bad?" "What's the McGuffin?" And they madlib these answers into the stock adventure script.

  2. Yep, a moments thought, by anyone involved, that's all it would have taken. Yet that is more than they bothered to give us. JJ is actually incredibly stupid, change my mind.
