The Rise of Russia – With Curtis Fox

We are diving into the heart of Eurasian geopolitics with Curtis L. Fox, author of the groundbreaking book Hybrid Warfare: The Russian Approach to Strategic Competition and Conventional Military Conflict. Launching into a deep exploration of Russia’s historical military strategies and its contemporary geopolitical maneuvers, Fox offers unparalleled insights into the Kremlin’s objectives, its relentless pursuit in Ukraine, and the inner mechanics of its formidable military and intelligence apparatus.

With Russia’s economic tenacity and military prowess on full display, we dissect the nation’s will to press on in the conflict, assess its strategic goals, and the potential ramifications on global stability. Curtis, a former Green Beret who mastered the Russian language and studied Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech before venturing into Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, provides a unique perspective on what Russia hopes to achieve and the lengths it may go to secure victory.

This episode not only charts the course of Russia’s military evolution from the Napoleonic era to its current engagement in Ukraine but also forecasts the possible outcomes of this conflict. Questions such as the impact of NATO’s involvement, the financial sustainability of Russia’s war machine, and the conditions for Ukrainian success are explored in depth.

  1. 2:48 is where the business starts. I appreciate your tough questions Andy. Curtis is very knowledgeable, but he points out our mistake inadvertently. Yes, we both want want a buffer. Adding the baltics to Nato put us at their border. Mistake. As is adding Ukraine. I’m not convinced Putin wants more. And buying time for Ukraine is the priority now, a ceasefire would only strengthen their position and natos.

Fyi, a former colleague was selling equipment to the us govt in baghram, 500 generator at Home Depot, 2500 there. Beachfront Florida today. He asked me to go over and watch all the cash, fly it to Dubai.

  2. I mean it's interesting but what about the Ukrainian nazi army, the part of the deal where Ukraine won't be part of Nato. I'm not a fan of Russia at all, but come on man. It's like we're listening to MSNBC. Russia , Putin bad, poor lil Ukraine. They're both bad, but also they had a deal.

  3. Andy joining the propaganda machine. Felt like i just watched CNN and this is coming from a person who happens to be Ukrainian. Next time mention the massive amount of Neo-nazis that occupy Ukraine.

  4. I would 100% read a scrutiny of the French Revolution. It's taught so circumspect and out of context here in the USA, that no one outside of academe has a clear picture of it. I've learned enough to have a vague understanding how horrifying it must have been to the citizens and subjects of surrounding monarchy's to watch it happen in real time from the outside.

  5. As I taxpayer I felt comforted when Curtis said , don’t worry all the shit being sent to Ukraine is just outdated stuff you all paid for. It’s not like we face a potential crisis here in the States where any of that stuff could be useful. Do we have anymore outdated shit we can donate to foreign countries while we as a country are told we’re being invaded… Jesus Christ

  6. I like to humiliate Americans in their propaganda.
    Hello from Russia.
    1) The Constitution of Ukraine was written by a NEUTRAL state. although in 2008, in Romania, the United States called Georgia and Ukraine into NATO. and the road maps were signed .
Since 1991, the United States has been deceiving Russia and moving its military infrastructure to the east.

    2) all nuclear missiles that came from the USSR have no value without code keys from Moscow.
    3) 2014 coup d'etat in Ukraine carried out by the United States. He brought the Nazis to power . ( for you , the Nazis are probably already the norm ) the first law they passed was the prohibition of the Russian language .
It took me 5 minutes of the broadcast to realize that this was nonsense.

  7. Any listeners who may be skimming the comments, you must take into consideration the inherent bias that Curtis brings to this subject. He is employed by the United States government and at the beginning he has to preface it with “These are my views”. You have to believe that some of the opinions he has are filtered through the fact he’s employed by the government. I’m not saying he’s spouting propaganda and his position most likely helps the discussion tremendously. As opposed to him being some free lance journalist, but keep in mind there’s a bias he has that is likely unintentional on his part, but nevertheless existent.

  8. The difference between Afghanistan and Ukraine are many. We invaded Afghanistan. We were the occupiers. Ukraine wants to move west politically and culturally. Afghanistan (and Pakistan) never did. They wanted to move toward Mecca.

I’m sure it crossed many people’s mind that this guy is/was CIA. Doesn’t make him wrong. Putin and his regime are not our friends. Ukraine should have had F16’s a year ago.
