The RISE and FALL of New Zealand's Criminal Empire | Mr Asia Syndicate

New Zealand’s Criminal Empire | Mr Asia Syndicate
Criminal Underworld of New Zealand,
How did two Kiwis from the small island country of NZ rule the drug networks of the world ?
The Mr. Asia Syndicate was formed in the 1970’s in New Zealand by Marty Johnstone , Terry Clark and ‘Chinese’ Jack Choo.
They began by importing Thai buddha sticks into New Zealand and then expanded their operation with importing and exporting heroin.
The syndicate brought in tens of millions of dollars annually at the height of their operation, spanned several countries worldwide and ultimately changed the way the law acted upon drugs in NZ.

  1. Hey there thanks for stopping by.
    A few disclaimers.
1: some sources on here may not have provided images to those associated with the events, hence some of the images are very scarce and hard to come by, such people as Doug and Isabel Wilson, Marty Johnstone, Andrew Maher and a few others.
2: it has been pointed out to me that one of the images of James Bazley is actually DOUG WILSON, with limited sources of images of him it was hard to determine who was who, apologies for any confusion.
3: I forgot to link a video in this description of a video that I mentioned in the video: The Australian Mafia ,link: https://youtu.be/3hcKeXnDsmA

  2. As a minority in NZ it buzzes me out that those involved in this were pakeha (white) folks. I’m not saying that to make it a race thing it just really gives me a different perspective on what I thought I knew. Thanks for sharing this bro 💯

  3. My Dad grew up an used to walk to school with Terry Clark when they were kids. He once said how he (Terry) was often unhappy as a kid and that there was something not right at home (Before it became a TV series and looked cool it was story of how someone can become something you don't ever want to become). He grew into a liar, then a compulsive liar then a manipulator then generally someone to avoid at parties later on around Gisborne. He used to be my uncles dealer then used him for something that went wrong. Dad's impression of him and the things he did was way worse than in the TV series.

  5. I was at primary school when drugs became popular. Mr Sinclair was a known Mr Asia well that's what all us kids were told in the mid 60s. Drugs was an in thing in the 70s especially when your favourite pop star was involved with drugs actually popularized drugs. Woodstock for one. I personally have never done drugs in my life time. I could never see the sense of it.

  6. Johnstone used to travel on a fake of my old mans passport. We would or ever be I customs offices when we traveled. Dad had a letter attached to his passport from the Governor General stating "this is not the man you are looking for" 😂👌🏼
Nice work mate, love these old stories of Aotearoa

  7. sadly it's becoming far worse today, after I come home from overseas in 78 I actually couldn't see far clearing about the huge drug culture in my beloved country, 8 year's later I was disturbed by the criminal fraternity running the small towns, but the shocking thing was the police were but walking slowly behind the criminal fraternity, again it's now partly due to the ex aussie 501 criminal fraternity coming home supposedly so, sadly it's not looking good,

  8. Well-told (with extensive use of stock-footage, but heck: how else!?). I had vaguely heard of the big bust via the media at the time, but didn't pay much attention to the deets. Now I know way too much!
And; like a lot of the Kiwis commenting here; I have a curious connection to the case. I shared a house with a TV News producer & content-creator (Not giving any names) and he was one of the journalists who dug the dirt on the syndicate that eventually lead to the Big Bust. The guy that broke to story, in fact! As the story goes, he and his associates had to operate in secret and keep a very low profile -as they realised that they might become targets if their activities leaked to the bad guys.
I knew him in 1988/89, after he was safe again.

  9. Is it true there was some connection between Clark and the Nugan/Hand Merchant bankers CIA ? I vaguely remember property seizures of a yacht and trawler/s from Bribie Island Qld and the subsequent public Auction of the seized goods. The Auctioneers offered a brief history of the seized goods as marketing ploy…..never let a chance to by to ramp up interest, eh ?
