Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase: Browns Loss Frustrating Because We Got Beat by ‘Some Elves’. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was not happy with the Bengals losing 24-3 Sunday to a Cleveland Browns team he described as “elves” three days prior.

“It’s frustrating because I called their ass elves, and we just lost to some elves,” Chase said after the game, per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. When asked if was prepared for potential blow back stemming from the comment, Chase said, “What blow back? If they got a problem with me saying something I’m saying right now, they soft.” Chase went 5-of-9 for 39 yards Sunday, accounting for almost half of quarterback Joe Burrow’s career-low 82 passing yards in the loss.

The Browns have now won six of their last seven match ups with the Bengals dating back to September 2020. When asked Thursday about facing the Browns, Chase told reporters the Week 1 match up felt like a “regular game.” “It don’t feel no different,” Chase said. “It’s just the hooping and hollering about the Cleveland Browns. I was about to call them the elves. … I don’t really hear it. If you ask me, I don’t really pay attention to it because Cleveland is Cleveland.”

When asked about the interview before the game, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett said Chase “knew better” than to make the comment, per Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. “We might have to discuss it before or after the game, maybe during if I see him,” Garrett said. “The ‘elves’ is a little bit too far.” The Bengals’ 2021 first-round pick is an expert at getting reactions out of opposing team with by talking trash to reporters. His dig at Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in June earned a response from Mahomes and ignited buzz over the Bengals-Chiefs rivalry. Fans can only hope those comments will be able to make the Bengals’ upcoming New Years Eve match up against the Chiefs a more exciting game than their flat Week 1 loss to the Browns.

  6. People get used to things. It's been a near certainty that the Browns will do Browns things, no matter what. We expect the glaciers to be in Antarctica, until they aren't. They expect the Browns to crash out Gon f%&k they head up this year tho

  19. Bengals have won titles and playoff games. Browns haven’t won anything but some regular season games, more notably by the Bengals. I wouldn’t get too hype off of week 1, but enjoy your moment while it lasts Browns fans.

  23. I gotta say it. The way watson runs scares the life outta me everytime he takes off. He doesn't run dainty like mahomes prancing around avoiding contact or super elusive like lamar, and both of those guys still get hurt. Watson reminds me of Cam Newton when he runs. He runs with aggression, power, and he's not afraid of contact. I know they can't change how he plays the game nor would you want to. His running style just scares me and I worry about him staying healthy for 17 games.
