  2. A6, E-2C, F-111 RA-5C, A3, and many other pretty large aircraft. The F-14 is about the same length as a F-15 but is wider.. also the weight of an F-14 is nearly 3 times that of an F-15 when fully loaded.

  3. On one of my Now DE-classified missions of rocketing around the Back Of The Moon. . I had to land on an aircraft carrier.
I had to get the Shuttle to take a Very Long approach to slough-off speed… but we did it: me & Gary Powers my Co-pilot.
Just as our hook grabbed the last Arresting Cable (I'd missed the 1st two on carrier's flight deck)… I was hollering loudly "Grab It… Grab It"…

… when my girlfriend did & 'pulled' me from my slumber.

  4. The tailhooks on US Air Force planes are not for carrier landings, they are for emergencies to bring the plane to a rapid stop on the ground, such as a landing gear/brake failure. One example is the Australian F-111 that had to land its belly because the gear would not extend – it caught the arresting wire just feet off the ground, which prevented it from sliding beyond and off the runway.

  5. What an all encompassing video! At least 99% of the audio is WRONG. The F-15 has 12,000’ concrete landing gear. Its little skinny gear, not being designed for carrier durability, would look like tin foil after the first and only trap the aircraft would ever make. It is a great aircraft all around: but not designed for carrier ops. Just imagine an Air Force pilot actually surviving the trap aboard the ship. He/she would be searching for the missing 9,700’ of runway. Then there is no bar, no exchange, the swimming pool is over the side, no tennis courts. Then they would look around and gasp “You do this kind of s – – t at night too?” End of USAF trying to be forced aboard aircraft carriers. 🤬🤯🤮DGBryan

  6. In other words. The US Air Force is training its pilots and crews how to land its aircraft to land either on short runways or aircraft carriers in preparation for an upcoming conflict with China and Russia, likely within the next 12-20 months.

  7. Again if the Government would Play fair to the Navy the F14 would be just as good Or Better than the F15. You see Air Force Generals want to Be #1 Sorry just my Take because the Air Force hates the A10. Wish the Army had Balls and Take Over the A10 for there Foot Soldiers

  8. They do not try to land an F15 on an Air Craft carrier. It simply is not designed to do it. The landing gear alone would not last. Maybe they tried it a couple if times but nothing ever came of that.
