  1. Meanwhile Nature Girl goes extreme eco-terrorist and her even worse accomplice is set free by the island and Doug. . .yeah. . .(see X-Men Infinities). Seriously those two murdered quite a few humans off island.

And yes there is hypocrisy between the Supermodel Mutants and Morlock Mutants. With the resurrections and genetic manipulations the Morlock Mutants could possibly look more human but are told by Supermodel Mutants, "Just accept who you are!" Yeah, that's like telling a child with cleft lip or club foot, "Sure we could fix your problem but we won't. Just accept who are you." Meanwhile Quenton Quire turned himself into a GMO by using the same methods that could give Morlock Mutants more human forms.

Think Sabertooth will care about exile? HA! Also don't underestimate post-Birdie Sabertooth smarts. When he wants to he will use his brain and think which makes him more dangerous.

  2. The society built in Krakoa is as corrupt as the "human society" the mutants wanted to distance themselves from. The high council is full of privileges and does not seem to care about most of mutants there. Having kids irresponsibly and not carrying for them is horrible and a perfect example of the degradation of Krakoa society. The resurrection protocols is just a disgusting clone program. It seems the copy of the copy of the copy of characters is showing a degradation of the personalities of the ones going through it. Krakoa must end and perhaps mutants should focus on Mars as their own planet (since they want to distance themselves from the rest of humanity).

  3. Krakoa needs the pit, it needs to absorb the energy of 3 mutants per year right?
I think all of the jailbreak is in his mind. Sabertooth will stay there because if he is released, the non-mutant lawmakers will be upset upon his release.

  4. My whole thing is… what is the difference between Omega Red and Sabretooth? To me, they are both the same type of horrible monster. They kill, they rape, they terrorize and they take immense pleasure in doing so. And yet, Omega Red is currently on the X-Force team, despite betraying Krakoa TWICE! Once to Dracula, and then again when he colluded with Mikhail Rasputin. So why are only one of them given a shot at redemption? I’m not naive enough to believe that Creed would’ve stayed on the good path, but he still at least deserved a chance at integration

  5. Always thought it was off how there didn’t seem to be any sort of system for regular mutants to walk into the Quiet Council (assuming most people even knew where it was) and plead their case for a decision to be made by the council, be it a civil dispute or criminal investigation. We only ever saw the council interact directly with X-Men leaders, S.W.O.R.D directors, X-Factor Investigations, War Captains of Krakoa, X-Force, and other title X-book leaders. I can’t see myself as a regular mutant that’s able to schedule a meeting with the council to bring a grievance to them. Idea if that email system they have is available to everyone on the island, like the New Mutants requesting a sort of youth engagement program because there wasn’t one on the island before they asked about it.

There doesn’t seem to be any real system for mutants that were engineers and lawyers and stuff to transition to a Krakoan economy, which is only partially understandable with people not needing money or having to work to live, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t still need representation for when the Council thinks about sending you to the Pit.

There are so many interesting questions to ask about what they should be doing that hasn’t been addressed fully and I’m glad those are being explored.

The thing with the abandoned babies really gets to me because I’m wondering how there are so many babies already when the island was only around for a couple months at the time Nightcrawler found out about the Bower. Like, was that suppose to be a hint that mutants with mutant heritage from both parents tend to gestate faster than humans? I don’t see another way for there to be so many that resulted solely from the hedonistic nightclub culture on Krakoa.

It’s also weird that we only see parties and people hanging at the beach with no one older than their mid-to-late thirties besides the council members and ancient mutants. No 40-year old mutants who had to leave their family or a whole lotta other refugees. Just a lotta college age background mutants that more or less look conventionally attractive (and mostly white when not explicitly mutant in appearance).

If the council knows there’re ways to help defuse or mitigate the destructive tendencies of certain mutants, then they never should’ve gotten rid of the Hellions as an outlet and means of forming Brotherhoods (mini-Circuits?) among isolated mutants that wanted to be better. Or maybe just use their super science and powers in order to help them be less destructive and stabilize their powers, like Psylock restoring a manic Mystique’s sanity potentially resulting from her shapeshifting powers (because her history has her betraying, seducing, and murdering with little consistency or direction except for when she’s with Destiny, I think), or when Jean have Cassandra Nova empathy so she could feel remorse for her sociopathic actions and tendencies, or the techno virus that keeps Cable’s self destructive Omega Level Telekinesis in check. That could easily be used for well over half the Hellions to help manage their pain.

Now that the Waiting Room exists they should be able to bring Birdie back with no issue if they’re able to convince her to keep Sabertooth from serial killing the other mutants or doing killing sprees off-island. They just seem to not be acting like a well-functioning council.

They never made it clear what was allowed and what wasn’t when it came to a society that had access to things once reserved for the superhero community. Like, could I borrow the X-Wing for a drive in Shi’ar space like the New Mutants did if I was never on their team, or walk away with a scolding and nothing else? How important would security have to be for Krakoan Gates to Otherworld if kids could easily walk in and get stuck there.

I’d like an X-book focused on answering these issues more holistically so we can see some changes in the other titles.

  6. Am I wrong to interpret this LaValle ‘Sabertooth’ run as a slight critique of Hickman’s treatment of some mutants at the start of his X run. Either way, this is AMAZING stuff in this book! 🔥

  7. sabretooth was on hellions or at least his knock off wild child , i mean they function the same outside of scale. i doubt wild childs use in such a position is coincidental.

  8. This makes me happy. I have wanted to see Birdie make a return ever since the rezurrection protocals became a thing. It is great to see that she hasn't been forgotten. When Mystique started trying to make her moves, I thought Victor would be one of her potential allies. She was the only one on the council that did not vote guilty at the time, and they have a long history together. They may not trust each other, but I believe that there is a grudging respect there and Victor is no friend of the council. It is ironic that Jefferies is there, as in my vision of how Birdie would come back he was a part of it.

There scenario I had in mind was that the council needed to put together a covert op's mission to infiltrate a facility. Mystique volunteers on the condition that she gets to pick the team, no questions asked. They agree, and to test them she immediately says that Victor as her first pick. She convinces him to join her as she intends to get payback on the council, and this is the way that she gets him back in the game. His only condition is that he gets to pick the next team member. Next we would see a freshly rezurrected Birdy, disoriented and trying to get her bearings. Then she hears a voice that chills her to the bone, "Did you really think that a little thing like death would allow you to escape me?". She looks up in horror to see victor crouched over her with a fanged smile, "Hello Birdie". And then she promptly loses it.

The rest of the team would be filled out with Destiny, John Wraith, and Jeffries. Mystique being an assasin and insane infiltration and espionage specialist. Creed who is an insane tracker, assasin, and one man army when needs be. Destiny who is not only a precog who can guarantee the missions success, but also is an assassin. Birdie is a strong telepath and an accomplished mercenary and assassin in her own right. John wraith is an expert in explosives and demolitions, was a covert ops member of team X, and a teleporter to boot. Lastly Jefferies being a powerful technopath would be a huge asset, and his military training should ensure that he could hold his own.

The mission would showcase everyones talents. Victor tracking down and capturing a target, birdie telepathicaly extracting information and implanting it into mystique. Mystique infiltrating the facility, with Destiny guiding her, and planting a device that lets jefferies remotely access the facility systems. Lastly John wraith causing a distraction and extracting Mystique during the ensuing chaos.

Lol, theoretical team build is what makes Krakoa fun, and I think every council member needs a team of operatives. All fan fic to be sure, but I really would like to see Birdie back again. Victor was at his best as the cold blooded professional assassin with a girl friday that kicked ass in her own right. Though how that would work in Krakoa I don't know.

  9. When I look at how Xavier played mindhames with his mutants and then went crazy a few times himself

How Xavier can work with sinister and apocalypse then.married mystique and left everything to her in his will that was a slap.to.the faces of all.his students

How can cyclops and jean live around sinister all the mind games he played with them

I understand keeping your enemies close but damn

  10. Melter wasn't thrown in the Pit because he defiled Krakoa, he was thrown in the Pit because he listened in on Council business. He was warned about that and didn't listen. And the others broke one of the 3 laws of Krakoa. Oya and Nekra killed non-powered humans. You can't compare the actions of X-Force with any of the other teams; it's their literal job to do Xavier's dirty work, always have been. I can't really speak on Third Eye's actions, not saying he's wrong, but they (the writers) just wrote some of this to spice things up. Maddison canoodled with someone that was exiled by Xavier, not really breaking any laws, but still, Danger is a literal danger to Krakoa and mutants in general. I'm not saying everything is rainbows and sunshine on Krakoa, but the laws are clear. And the writers keep dropping the ball on unity within the mutant community: the Morlocks decided to not live on Krakoa, because they felt like they didn't fit in (always have); no one forced them. Idk where all these other supposed "shunned" mutants came from, but that's just lazy writing. Skin was loved by the members of Generation X and they mourned him when he died. At least Jubilee should still be his friend and Emma (as his former mentor) should have a larger role in his life after resurrection. And don't even get me started on the shenanigans of nobody's favorite uncle: Nathaniel Essex. But yeah. This is the way the writers want the story to go.

  11. I don't understand why they are drawing skin like that. He has control over his powers. There's no reason why he would let himself look all saggy especially since he was so self conscious about it when he couldn't control his powers

  12. I have a theory about this story. What if the punishment for the hole is a good thing. Like when all else fails activate their contingency plan and that's them. Also I wonder what if Sabertooth developes a secondary mutation and what would he look like.

  13. What's going on in these X-Men stories is some of the finest and most nuanced social commentary I've seen in a very long time. It's what the X-Men and mutants are supposed to about. Krakoa was a stroke of genius, it forced writers to brake the cycle of decades and rethink how to complicate the lives of mutants. I gave use a chance to get to know mutants we only ever saw as two dimensional villans/ lackeys in a few panels. People finally have NAMES and we folks interacting and thriving, it's so awesome.

I honestly hope Krakoa holds up, I think things need to change and I hope they do but I hope this haven can remain and become what it's promised at least for a little while. Let the threat come from without for a while and we see that sense of family that made me love the X-Men. I miss seeing the X-Men, I think they should have more than one team and I think they should start training mutants again. Give folks a purpose again. Maybe the events of EvX will make that happen.

  14. I mean, no morlocks are on the council. Clearly they don't particularly value thier input. And yes if Apocalypse (who has tried to commit genocide (as well as other council mutants)) is free and clear, why should a simple mass murder be locked up just because they happened to decide forming Krakoa the night before without any warning on the new laws.
