The Reality Of Military Life Inside An Air Base | Warzone E8 | Our Stories

The reality of military life inside an Afghanistan air base. Subscribe to Our Stories: https://bit.ly/3lzSXhv

This extraordinary programme follows the frontline forces at a purpose-built military town on the outskirts of Kandahar in Afghanistan, where 14,000 men and women live in perhaps the world’s most dangerous Warzone. The Kandahar airbase is a key facility run by the British on behalf of NATO, and the Royal Air Force has an 800-strong presence there. The RAF is the most technologically advanced of all the forces and here it is pushed to the limit. While luxuries are few and far between, keeping a base running smoothly in the middle of a desert is a challenge in itself.

This film was first broadcast: 2009

  1. My ex was at Basra and many other locations as he was on UK-MAMS (chinooks). This video brought back so many memories I've got PTSD from dealing with the constant fallout from those intense times. I miss my military life. My ex was, and will always be an absolute HERO. I'm only sorry we couldn't work through it all, and eventually got divorced, but there is no blame, only respect! 🇬🇧

  2. I wonder if troops can still have nude calendars on their walls as I’ve heard that most armies have banned pornographic material due to it being sexist and degrading its pathetic that men simply can’t be men
