Willie, Sarah and their dog, Jack Spaniels, continue their biggest adventure yet – leaving their suburban life and moving over the sea to ‘Live The Skye Life’!
One the things our viewers say to us regularly is “You guys are living the dream!”… but are we really?
Moving to a new home in a new area and all the challenges that come with it is always an upheaval…
..but when the new home is a 140+ year old cottage in a remote area of a Hebridean island, well – there are bound to be difficulties, adjustments and lots of ups and downs.
In this video we tell you how it really is!

Your fab loving watching all the adventures you are doing 😀
I love your channel and following your adventures. What a talented couple! We have visited Scotland but not the Isle of Skye-hopefully some day. It looks absolutely beautiful, so rugged and remote-and doesnt the weather keep it interesting. Best of luck to you both from Canada
Hi to you both! I heard you talk about the Skye weather. You probably heard this before, but a local there once told me, ‘if you can see Skye from the mainland it means it’s going to rain .. if you can’t see Skye from the mainland, it means it’s raining already’. It’s ancient but it’s golden.
I had never heard the expression ‘blowing a hooley’, and it gave me the best laugh on an otherwise tough day. I love this channel, thank you for sharing your beautiful lives with us.
Feel like Monica in Friends when Rachel stole her eventual baby name Emma. Your friends have pinched my eventual fur baby name DeNiro.
It is so fantastic where you live and go hiking. Gorgeous. Great job on videos. From FL in th U.S. 70 degrees farenheit these days.
You should take a walk to the Viking boatyard and wee canal which is at the end of the same peninsula that you can walk to from Glen Brittle carpark. Lots of ruins there too.
So glad it has been a good move for you guys, it’s something I have always wanted to do. You have probably already thought of this, but if Jack is going to do much in the way of icy, snowy walks, some paw wax would be a good idea. X
There might be local organic farmers that deliver once a week to their catchment , ohhh you could get an area or even weld one to heat your house, also eggs your own chickens, your own milk, the thing is can you afford not to do it, don’t forget that channel I told you about, he’s totally renovated two Swiss alp cottages even through the snowy winter on his own, you tube channel Martijn Doolaard I promise once you start to watch his current 53 episodes all about his really difficult isolated journey that he’s turned into one of the best journeys I’ve ever seen in my life , you won’t be able to stop and I’ve learned so so much from him about beginning that life getting plans finished on a budget, even building his own machinery from wood wire and rope… and nails, I’m pumping him to you because you remind me of him and because after watching your channel I thought I would give you the gift of finding him when you otherwise might not, love and blessings Old Owl 🦉Alaya
Hi from Western Australia.. I'm really enjoying your channel and seeing beautiful, beautiful Skye ! Keep up the great work and good fun, thank you!! 🥰
I would like to know how post works/online shopping, how long, extra cost for island…?
I’m sitting on my blanket!
Sadly i need to complain https://youtu.be/jSpQZh1WiWo this will explain i think my dog might be a fangirl of your dog love the videos by the way
I have a poster that shows a river like this on the isle of Skye. It's even marked as being from skye.
😂
I think doggie has past life walk the plank trauma . . .
Have you ever taken mountaineering classes on how to navigate icy conditions? I'm sure you're careful about changeable weather. Running into an icy freeze (Julian Sands) is life threatening. For where you live, I would each carry a small ice pick and at the very least a Garman satellite signaler. Beautiful country. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Or he’s highly rightly suspicious of that shabby bridge
Love a man that can cook!
Its always a pure joy to see you two….or should I say the three of you 😜😆 what a lovly couple you two are
Greetings from Cape Town 🇿🇦
Thanks for another wonderful video! Glad to see you using newspaper for the mirror — best way to clean it!
Take care, you three 🤗💗
OMG. Blooper reel is the best. Your friend was very funny. Great location, food looked lovely beef stew and dumplings. Yummy.
Hi again Willie and Sarah, we are a couple of months ahead of you in Skye life as we moved up last September.
We have a wind turbine and I’m just installing a battery storage system to reduce our reliance on the grid. You are more than welcome to pop by and see how it all works.
On the shopping front we use Morrisons and Tesco click and collect and only use the coop in emergencies! They have collection points in either Broadford or Portree.
We are loving the channel, thanks for sharing your journey.
All the best, Barry and Debbie
Love Willies music. Let me know if I can purchase a download and where
Im just out of hospital after surgery and am enjoying your lovely videos that take me to the Isle of Skye. Its so lovely to see you both so happy and Jack is so well looked after its a joy to watch you all. I live in Bucks but want to come to Skye as soon as I am well. Keep up the great work I have subscribed today to see more.
I have enjoyed your vlogs tremendously. Jack Spaniels is a terrific dog with a very clever name. But most of all, I love listening to your accents: reminds me of days, long long ago, in Aberdeen💕
We moved to North Uist for 4 years. I was 14. Not the best life as a teenager! Although absolutely beautiful, many ups and downs as an islander. Would be completely different now and also as an adult, I would see things in a new light. I do prefer living in Australia now!
I've been to Skye once over a decade ago for one day and I loved it. Thank you for taking me along with you !
Thanks so much for sharing the trip to the top! I’m 76 years old so I doubt I’ll ever do that but your video was absolutely beautiful so I feel like I’ve done it! Your channel is awesome keep it up
Lovely to see a young couple changing their way of life. It's good to experience what life has to offer especially when you're young. Enjoy, have fun and don't worry about tomorrow. 😊xx
I love Scottish biscuits with all of their butter they are awesome I’ll keep them here in my house and have them with my cup of tea! I am so thankful for the Scottish! After my Mom died in 2014 for several weeks I couldn’t sleep so I got addicted to the BBC series Monarch of the Glen and stayed up for several weeks watching all of the episodes! And the very first week of watching I’ve felt an affinity for the landscape which was filmed Fort Williams! I couldn’t get over the feelings I had while watching that series and I thought to myself I wonder if I have any ancestry from that area because I’ve never had feelings like this before! I live in Williamsburg Virginia in the US which was the original capital of this country and where we declared war on the governor of England for our freedom! So I know I have English background because there was a Captain Grigsby who brought all of the kings friends from England to Jamestown Virginia which is nearby and my family or Grigsby‘s on my mother side and we received a land grant through this captain Grigsby from the king of England! It is up north of Virginia near Fredericksburg Virginia! So anyway back to Monarch of the Glen because I couldn’t sleep but I started searching on ancestry.com for any connections I may have to Scotland and I found that my grandmother on my mother side was actually a McWhirt! Tracing that back to guess what the area around Fort Williams in Scotland! I found that I have a rich heritage from Scotland and that area! So it just goes to show you that we are connected to the land that our DNA remembers that connection! I remember once reading that our DNA carries all of our memories back to our ancestors and that’s why we think we have past life experiences but in fact it is the memory caring in our DNA! So way back somewhere we’re probably related! Anyway I certainly enjoyed your videos and watching you to experience the new life in a beautiful area and I get to travel through you guys without having to leave my couch! Like I mentioned in a previous video I have a black American cocker spaniel his name is Max and I adore him! I have had cocker spaniels for a long time at one point I had five and would have 20 if I could handle them all! Thanks again for the adventures of Jack spaniels he’s an awesome very smart dog!
Another really interesting vlog. I berated myself when I watched you climbing the Cuillin peak, for having been such a piggin' stick in the mud when I had a superb girlfriend 40 years ago, and probably 40000 tears ago, who always wanted to be out in nature. And I spoiled it, every time she wanted to go hiking, or walking. Little wonder she walked away. You guys enjoy every single day. Do not be an Andrew.
Loved the bloopers!!! On your Blankey… needs to be on a t-shirt!!! I thought the Catepillar was initially a “present” from Jack… I laughed out loud
That you were doing a close up… then again because it was a live animal and I am an idiot with a dirty mind!! Loved this episode and always look forward to them in Mississippi USA. We have a gorgeous 180# Irish Wolfhound. I picture him facing into the wind on the Isle of Skye. Makes me happy!!
