Heaven forbid Intramuros and the old Spanish part of Manila (and the other old Spanish style cities established during the Spanish era) be torn down for gigantic skyscrapers. Many European cities dont even have skyscrapers in their downtowns (Paris is a perfect example).
No need super tall tower….. We need enough food and people deciplines as a good character and respectable… I mean respect to each other that's my wish..
We donβt need very tall buildings in the Philippines. Itβs a site of earthquake phenomena. I am not impressed. Let them build a good quality and research Hospitals that will create good jobs for job seekers.
We need more connectivity to each other with better roads & trains, no more power lines above ground with no brown outs, super speed internet everywhere, but NO SKYSCRAPERS
if anything, build multiple medium-sized apartment buildings that will ACTUALLY get filled instead of some half-empty vanity tower where the other half only the absurdly rich 1% can afford.
D nmn kelangan iconic tower o mtaas na building! Kundi gandhan ung design ng building! Ksi mga building sa metro manila simple and basic nothing special nothing impresive! A tall iconic building can be another tourist spot. Just look at Petronas Tower of Malaysia, Taipei 101 of Taiwan, Skytree of Japan, Burj Al Arab of Dubai. These super tall structure attract a lot of tourists.
People in power just lack vision and political will.
We don't need supertall buildings….what the PHILIPPINES needs is Modern RAILWAYS,AIRPORTS,SEAPORT, BRIDGE'S a public TRANSPORTATION, and good ROADS for a better connectivity in the whole archipelago. And if I may add something power plants so we can have lower electricity rates and for our energy security in a booming economy like the π΅ππ
Iconic buildings or landmarks does not equate economic growth, if it is done by a government through taxpayers.
Just think of the New Senate Iconic Buildings, the government had to spend enormous amount of money, P11B pesos for just the government employees to work here.
I advise you to not view supertall skyscrapers as a sign of being "successful". In almost every case, supertall skyscrapers are always a sign of corruption. Over the recent decades my country Malaysia has been building many record-breaking skyscrapers, but poverty still exists, institutional racism still exists, religious extremism still exists, sexism in the workplace still exists, and most importantly government corruption still exists.

Running down the stairs from 17th floor during an earthquake is bad enough already.

Wishing the best for the Phillipines from Malaysia, but functional architecture always beats vanity projects. Fancy skyscrapers don't mean anything.
Skyscrapers aren't really that good. It's nothing but a dick measuring contest.
