Happy to see this podcast! I recommend your channel for any of the beginners I meet. Thanks very much
I work long hours and freezing water is an issue for me in Northern Ontario Canada. My rabbits are in a shed that is not heated. I use a 10 liter ice cream pail with a lid on it. It has a drinking nipple about 10 cm up from the bottom. I use an 50watt submersible aquarium heater in it. The pail is on the outside of the cage with a hole for the nipple to go through. The nipple does not freeze until it hits -25 Celsius. The heater is set at 25 or 26 Celsius. I have to hit the metal drinking nipple with a torch lighter for 3 or 4 seconds if it freezes. I never seen this setup so I thought I would share. I raise New Zealand rabbits. It makes my life so much easier with this setup. And of course the power wire is on the outside of the cage. lol
how long should I wait to rebreed a doe that lost all her kits at birth? she's been a great mother to about 4 litters but for some reason this time she did not make a nest or pull fur. Thery were all on the wire and frozen 🙁
Thank you both for spreading knowledge like this. I'm getting ready to begin my journey raising rabbits but am having issues finding decent feed. Our son has health issues and needs a super low inflammation diet and we suspect organic pellets with no odd ingredients would be best, but so far haven't found many options that are local or reasonably priced. I guess tree hay and supplemental food plots are going to be a big part of the way forward!
I lost one due to feeding him seagrape leaves,,,,😥😥😥
I had seen your fodder video and bought the same tray setup. I used bleach once, but it smelled so toxic. I have since learned that if I rinse the roots side once a day, there is no mold issue. I also do a quick soapy wash to the bottom green tray. I live in the south where mold can be a problem. This process takes a little extra time, but I don’t have to use bleach or vinegar.
