The Qur'an Keeps Changing! – The Topkapi Manuscript – Creating the Qur’an with Dr. Jay – Episode 32

Islam would claim that the Topkapi Quranic manuscript is a complete collection of the Qur’an and the most similar to the Qur’an we know today, but these claims are simply not true. The 8th-century Topkapi manuscript is different from today’s Qur’an in thousands of ways. Why is this important? Watch as Al Fadi and Dr. Jay compare today’s version of the Qur’an versus the Topkapi Qur’an proving the fluid nature of the Quranic text through the centuries.

  1. Great examination of the manuscripts. Of course it helps with the different copies. Excellent! This is why it's good to search out for the Truth.
I hope many come to realize Jesus is the Only Way to God…what Grace we have been afforded. God bless you both on this and many discoveries! As I have said before, this is important work, not to insult people, but to make them look deeply for God!
Have a wonderful weekend! Shabbat Shalom!

  2. Stop deceiving Western christians who do not know Arabic.
And you people stop being sheep.
Let me give you just one example of deception:
    We know
    He knows
    You know
    in Arabic is
    نعلم
    يعلم
    تعلم
Now remove the dots which are later addition to Arabic typography
And you end up with the exact written word that differs only when spoken.

Deceivers can only trick the sheep, don't be one!

  3. Contradictions

The Bible is an unreliable authority because it contains numerous contradictions. Logically, if two statements are contradictory, at least one of them is false. The biblical contradictions therefore prove that the book has many false statements and is not infallible.

    Examples of Old Testament Contradictions

The contradictions start in the opening chapters of the Bible, where inconsistent creation stories are told. Genesis chapter 1 says the first man and woman were made at the same time, and after the animals. But Genesis chapter 2 gives a different order of creation: man, then the animals, and then woman.

Genesis chapter 1 lists six days of creation, whereas chapter 2 refers to the “day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.” Genesis 1:2-3 claims that God created light and divided it from darkness on the first day; but Genesis 1:14-19 tells us the sun, moon, and stars weren’t made until the fourth day.

Chapter 1 reports that the fruit trees were created before the man, while chapter 2 indicates they were made after him. Genesis 1:20 says the fowl were created out of the waters; Genesis 2:19 alleges they were formed from the ground.

Contradictions are also seen in the biblical story of a worldwide flood. According to Genesis 6:19-22, God ordered Noah to bring “of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort . . . into the ark.” Nevertheless, Genesis 7:2-3 relates that the Lord ordered Noah to take into the ark the clean beasts and the birds by sevens, and only the unclean beasts by twos.

Genesis 8:4 reports that, as the waters of the flood receded, Noah’s ark rested on the mountains of Ararat in the seventh month. The very next verse, however, says the mountaintops could not be seen until the tenth month.

Genesis 8:13 describes the earth as being dry on the first day of the first month. But Genesis 8:14 informs us the earth was not dry until the twenty-seventh day of the second month.

  4. From this video, I understand that the corrections made on the Topkapi scripts are more of a clarification purposes. Although you mentioned over 2000 differences, it was not clear from the video what those changes were. Could you kindly show if there are additions or subtractions of verses or chapters? Otherwise it is not worth mentioning, it just proves Muslims claims. I really appreciate your work and we expect more in depth analysis and evidence showing those big differences between the scripts, like verses or chapters added or deleted etc.

  6. The Old Testament contains an interesting contradiction in the story of the census taken by King David and the resulting punishment of the Israelites. God was so angered by the census that he sent a plague that killed 70,000 men. According to II Samuel 24:1, the Lord had caused David to take the census – which makes the punishment appear even more nonsensical. But an attempt was later made, at I Chronicles 21:1, to improve God’s image by claiming that Satan incited the census.

  7. Slaughter – A faith test for Abraham's descendants.

Further, the Old Testament is contradictory as to whether the Lord commanded the Israelites to sacrifice animals to him. At Jeremiah 7:22, God denies he ever gave the Israelites commandments about animal sacrifices. In contrast, Exodus 29:38-42 and many other verses depict God as requiring the Israelites to offer animal sacrifices.

    Qur’an Surah As-Saffat:verse 102-113

37:102 And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion,1 he said, "O my son(Ishmael), indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."

37:103 And when they had both submitted1 and he put him down upon his forehead,

37:104 We called to him, "O Abraham,

37:105 You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

37:106 Indeed, this was the clear trial.

37:107 And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,1

37:108 And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations

    37:109 "Peace upon Abraham."

37:120 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

37:111 Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

37:112 And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.1

37:113 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself [i.e., sinner].

Slaughter – A faith test for Abraham's descendants.

    Qur’an Surah Al-Baqarah: verse 67-71

2:67 And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant."

2:68 They said, "Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is." [Moses] said, "[Allah] says, 'It is a cow which is neither old nor virgin, but median between that,' so do what you are commanded."

2:69 They said, "Call upon your Lord to show us what is her color." He said, "He says, 'It is a yellow cow, bright in color – pleasing to the observers.'"

2:70 They said, "Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is. Indeed, [all] cows look alike to us. And indeed we, if Allah wills, will be guided."

2:71 He said, "He says, 'It is a cow neither trained to plow the earth nor to irrigate the field, one free from fault with no spot upon her.'" They said, "Now you have come with the truth." SO THEY SLAUGHTERED HER, BUT THEY COULD HARDLY DO IT.

  8. Qur’an Surah Al-Baqarah: verse 75-79

2:75 Do you ˹believers still˺ expect them to be true to you, though a group of them would hear the word of Allah then knowingly CORRUPT it after understanding it?

2:76 When they meet the believers they say, “We believe.” But in private they say ˹to each other˺, “Will you disclose to the believers the knowledge Allah has revealed to you,1 so that they may use it against you before your Lord? Do you not understand?”

2:77 Do they not know that Allah is aware of what they conceal and what they reveal?

2:78 And among them are the illiterate who know nothing about the Scripture except lies, and ˹so˺ they ˹wishfully˺ speculate.

2:79 So woe1 to those who DISTORT the Scripture with their own hands then say, “This is from Allah”—seeking a fleeting gain! So woe to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they have earned.

  9. Hold on a minute. People in the comments are acting as if this hasn't happened to the Bible. Did everyone suddenly forget about Tertullian? Matthew 28:19? Or 1 John 5:7-8?

There is no consistency here. I'm a Christian too, but we need to make fair arguments here. This only proves that the Quran is on the same level as the Bible on terms of text criticism. Muslims can no longer say it's been perfectly preserved.

  10. Examples of New Testament Contradictions

In the New Testament, there are contradictions between the genealogies of Jesus given in the first chapter of Matthew and the third chapter of Luke.

Both genealogies begin with Jesus’ father, who is identified as Joseph (which is curious, given that Mary was supposedly impregnated by the Holy Ghost). But Matthew says Joseph’s father was Jacob, while Luke claims he was Heli. Matthew lists 26 generations between Jesus and King David, whereas Luke records 41. Matthew runs Jesus’ line of descent through David’s son Solomon, while Luke has it going through David’s son Nathan.

The story of Jesus’ birth is also contradictory. Matthew 2:13-15 depicts Joseph and Mary as fleeing to Egypt with the baby Jesus immediately after the wise men from the east had brought gifts.

But Luke 2:22-40 claims that after the birth of Jesus, his parents remained in Bethlehem for the time of Mary’s purification (which was 40 days, under the Mosaic law). Afterwards, they brought Jesus to Jerusalem “to present him to the Lord,” and then returned to their home in Nazareth. Luke mentions no journey into Egypt or visit by wise men from the east.

  13. Concerning the death of Judas, the disloyal disciple, Matthew 27:5 states he took the money he had received for betraying Jesus, threw it down in the temple, and “went and hanged himself.” To the contrary, Acts 1:18 claims Judas used the money to purchase a field and “falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.”

In describing Jesus being led to his execution, John 19:17 recounts that he carried his own cross. But Mark 15:21-23 disagrees by saying a man called Simon carried the cross.

As for the crucifixion, Matthew 27:44 tells us Jesus was taunted by both criminals who were being crucified with him. But Luke 23:39-43 relates that only one of the criminals taunted Jesus, the other criminal rebuked the one who was doing the taunting, and Jesus told the criminal who was defending him, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
