Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, also known as the Queen Mother, was one of the royal family’s most famous members and helped stabilise the monarchy’s popularity. She helped teach her eldest daughter, the late Queen Elizabeth II, the ways of the crown, and had seen off the Luftwaffe and Adolf Hitler. She represented not only a country and an empire but a century of human history.

  1. “THIS IS NOTHING BUT TOTAL PROPAGANDA AND LIES!” Elizabeth, the Queen mother was a totally selfish, conniving, narcissist who only wanted her own way in everything! “STOP THE LIES!”

  2. I am slowly getting sick of your documentaries. Watching for 21 minutes (the half) and all is about the WWII. What about her childhood? But actually the thing that mostly changed Queen Mother´s life was the abdication of Edward VIII. And the music is (again) too loud. I am not watching more of this unprofessional so called "documentary"….sorry

  3. There is something so touching about hearing the Queen's voice as a child, reaching out to those suffering. Got me tearful. And something so powerful about Hitler hating the Queen Mother and Elizabeth, means they were powerful women.

  4. Not much about the Queen Mother. Footage of a hound chasing a rabbit though. By the time I was born, the Queen Mother’s daughter had been on the throne for nearly 15 years, so I did not personally experience the Queen Mother’s glory days. She was the queen her nation needed in wartime, galvanizing her shy husband to hold firm to his duty. I have learned since that she was a very complex character. She herself said “I’m not as nice as people think I am.“ She was called the woman that Adolf Hitler feared the most. I am sure her story out of the public eye was an interesting one, but that is not this documentary.
