The Problem with MW3 Zombies – My Brutally Honest Thoughts

MW3 Zombies looks awful for some people, and exciting for others. Treyarch now has the impossible job of appeasing these drastically different playerbases.
Can they manage it, or is MW3 Zombies doomed to fail before it’s even released?

Does it count as ā€œZombiesā€ if it isn’t roundbased? Debate here šŸ‘‰ https://www.tiktok.com/@mrroflwaffles/video/7286620597780548896

  1. before saying anything, i’d like to state the fact that I consider myself to be a hc rbz fan, and that this opinion has a considerable bias. I’ve been playing zombies since bo1, which has almost been my entire life, (this might sound troubling, but I was like 4 atm) and to this day, I play about 30 hours of zombies per week, mostly being customs and high rounds on bo1 – 3. And, I can’t quite express what it is, but zombies used to be creative. Every map since verruckt to tag der toten, (yes, even bo4 maps) has had AT LEAST a speck of persobality and/or uniqueness, whether with a ww, ee, high round strat, setting or whatever, you could tell that those who were making these maps would be somewhat enjoying that, or trying to make something different. I say this bc NOT A SINGLE ZOMBIES GAME (that isn’t focused MAINLY on gameplay) feels as unique as og zombies. It seems as if tho activision were the ones making the game instead of the devs, which i think is sort of the case, with activision making every single decision and leaving no creative freedom for devs, or at least i hope so. OG cod zombies is, (and i will die on this hill) unrepeatable, (idk if this word exist) meaning that it can never be done again. I dont think that anyone can repeat what happened from waw to bo4, (excluding exos and ww2, yes, im including iw). I solely think that it was a one time thing, and that, even if it can be remade, it will never be excelled.

  2. I think you should also address the hardcore dmz fans that imerged this past year. Idk if thats a big variable in the success in the mwz but i think it is worth paying attention to the effect dmz had on mw2.

  3. As someone who has played all of the cods since I was 5 and love warzone I love zombies but I’m not sure if this will even come close to how good bo3 bo4 and even infinite warfare. Cold War was pretty good vanguard had interesting things but was pretty mid to bad besides Shino. I really like the original round based design but I’m still gonna give it a try with the boys and see how it plays and hope it doesn’t get stale

  4. I enjoy rbz the most, I actually enjoyed outbreak but since my friends don’t play zombies I played everything solo. As a 1 in your scale I’m not buying the game, but will watch your videos if there’s any story that you deem worthy of talking about. That’s where I’m at!

  5. Honestly all mw3 zombies needs is to bring back the anxiety factor in zombies when it is actualy difficult from the begining and every decision can have different outcomes

  6. No Not Every Camps Thinking Is Equally Valid:
Zombies is a round based game, based on good map design.
This is how the game became most popular and garnered its' respect as an IP.
Zombies has not been as popular as it should be for a while because they don't stick to simple fun repetitive gameplay but instead have too much busy work and lack luster game modes.
So the new group advocating for non round based is NOT as valid because if that was how they made them they would have never been as popular as they were. They objectively aren't as correct as other camps.
Much like with Left 4 Dead. Great zombie types and great maps. Now if u advocated for their new looter shooter sequel that failed immediately you would be wrong and a detriment to the fan base and health of the IP.
This is why camps that want to play Warzone with a zombie flavor are not as correct as those who want simple round play; because when you followed the round play ideology the game is/was/will be at its most popular/profitable and well made.

  7. After watching this video I’ve found that I’m practically in all these quadrants šŸ˜‚
For round based I love all the EEs and always interact with the zombies community in some way and always watch storyline videos and stuff but with zombies I’m usually content with just a good survival gamemode that’s zombies. For outbreak it’s similar, I love the EEs and enjoy the mode but wish it becomes great but I’m also content if they just have the mode be almost the same as it was in Cold War

  8. Facts, literal facts…. For the first 30 mins I just nodded my head in full agreement lol. Like I said, simply facts. šŸ˜‚ Cold War round based zombies pulled me into zombies hard. Love it.

  9. I think that any game that puts a time limit on how long you have to play is just weird/poor game design. with the exception of a tactical shooter like rainbow Six where you have X amount of minutes to diffuse the bomb. I like the idea of having the human enemies in the open world on the condition the zombies attack them too. It would be really interesting to see a group of AI soldiers walking around getting jumped by a bunch of zombies and then having to stop shooting at you to save themselves from the zombies. All in all I think modern warfare 3 zombies has potential to be really interesting. I just seriously hope Treyarch doesn't dedicate all of their time and energy to it and forget about the next Call of Duty game! Because as a hardcore zombies player like many of you. That is the one I'm truly looking forward to!

  10. Great video, Milo, but let's consider the business aspect. You should have considered why Activision targets the casual audience over the hardcore audience. There are more casual players out there than hardcore players, which leads to more profit. This is the main reason they mostly use someone new to zombies for testing sessions. Even though hardcore players claim that zombies isn't the same and is dying, casual players are loving it, and profits are booming more than ever before. I just wish zombies received the same treatment as multiplayer. Casual players have modes they enjoy, but for the hardcore players, there are ranked, league play, and more to fulfill their need for a challenge. Zombies needs the same treatment to please both casual and hardcore players. Instead of leaning towards the side that makes them the most profits.

  11. bruh we were playing obr in cw becouse we were fucking bored of what they gave us then, ee were completable on first runthrough and everyone was speedrunning it. i think thats why outbreak got even players. me personally dont like outbreak becouse the map is copy paste from warzone with same houses everywhere without the old zombies estetic

  12. After the Vanguard incident I will no longer preorder any zombies game. That being said not looking forward to this years game, just not my cup of tea. I miss the old days of BO3 and want it to come back. At least make it so my characters I play say funny things and make me laugh.

  13. The outbreak/Round Based was more equal in Cold War because there were fewer Zombies players in general.
Cold War Zombies wasn't really that good, I know people that went back to Black Ops 3 Zombies rather than playing Cold War.
If this was a great Zombies mode like the older games, then these numbers would be far less equal. Every OG Zombie player knows this, too. The players that only joined with Cold War didn't know better. They just assumed Outbreak was the default.

  14. I resonated with saying that I was a hardcore RBZ enjoyer when you said that you probably looked up YouTube videos about cyphers and the lore, my favorite part as a kid was going to bed and watching lore explaining vids on all the radios and EE’s

  15. I think the outbreak fan is not going to like this, because the time limit is just ridiculous. I would absolutely consider myself a RBZ hardcore, but I am more of an Easter egg – high round attempts than speed run player.. but the thing I enjoyed about Outbreak was that it I wanted to, I could put 4-5-6 hours into it, go 6-8 maps deep and make sure I have everything fully loaded before I go in to the boss fight, which yes makes the boss fight harder but is more worth the effort, and putting a time limit on this just ruins the Outbreak experience for me.. if they take off this time limit, I will be fine with this game mode, but I feel like they should still give us a round based option. Why not put a separate mode or second map on for those players? It just seems lazy to me when you know you have this huge fan base…

  16. I miss the days when we used to focus on element 115. And the true nazi horror secrets and beautiful storyline. I feel like they ruined it with the alien shit and stuff.

  17. It’s not half and half, cold war didn’t have the best zombies maps. It’s probably 3/1, 3 being round based players. Some people play cod just for zombies. Round based Easter eggs have so much depth and difficulty to them I love. It’s so much fun for me. Can’t wait for next year I hope they bring round based zombies back with black ops.

  18. I really think there’s so much hostility over things like this because each ā€œsideā€ sees that, the reason why the game continues to go in a direction they don’t like is because of the other side, so they try and attack and destroy the other side so the devs ā€œreturn to the good sideā€ because there’s only ever really enough space for one version of the mode… because the devs are limited by budget and can’t please BOTH sides at once with BOTH modes seperated.

  19. I don’t understand why there isn’t customisation for the player character themself? Like. Zombies has so many iconic characters, let us play as them, and/or use their outfits on our original, or ā€œmainā€, player characters. Camo’s are lazy and boring. I want to play as Crusader Richthofen or a Keeper.
