The Problem with MEOVV

MEOVV’s debut was highly anticipated, but many feel the group didn’t live up to the hype.

  1. To be honest yes maybe they could’ve added something more like a hit note and a fast rap but still I’m not surprised people hate it because Ya’ll hate every debut I personally LOVE the song but you even hated BABYMONSTERs debut and then you say MEOVV copied BABYMONSTER what is wrong with Ya’ll, you guys act like you can debut a group not everything is good enough for you guys like they worked hard for this and you say THE SONG IS BAD and I know you guys are bout to bark at me but guys …🙄

  2. Every time people complain about YG/Teddy songs, what they're really saying is, "This sounds like hipping and/or hopping! I am here for BUBBLE GUM! QQ! High-pitched baby noises only, please!"

  3. whatever, they will be famous for background alone, no matter if the songs are bad or not. Kpop and kpop fans are like this… But criticizing ella for having no charisma? That's just stupid kkkk she is great

  4. The kpop industry needs to change atp, debuting young teens is so normalised i just wish they debut actual adults who are capable of writing songs, composing music or just involvement in music in general. These kids are just pretty faces doing what the company says a-z without knowing a thing or two about music

  5. With Teddy we can say it will be flatt if he ain't giving the girls any opertunity to have a finger in the musicdoing, it will be then like BP always the same vibe in music and in the long run that is old and flatt. Seems like they need a new music producer with totaly new ideas othervise we have BP, Babymonsters and these girls that has the same style

  6. I wish the pabidly insane Knetizens, and the equally critical kyoutubers would give a little less weight to initial debut songs. Yes sometimes a group scores a home run first time at bat. But more often than not the first song is more an experiment in finding a groups dynamic and voice. Would we want to throw away NMixx on the basis of O.O? Or BTS on No More Dream? Look back at how awkward and unpolished the group dynamics of Twice’s Ooo Ah was, compared to how they would develop. Heck almost the worst thing that can happen to a group is nailing an insanely popular song right out of the box. It smothers and stifles their development and prevents them from growing. It forever locks them into repeating that same success and concept.

  7. i think the person who made this video spends too much time on reddit where they will hate on anyone and anything. to call the song meow "outdated" or something from 2016 just shows they don't really know much about current music trends, meow's dance break included brazilian funk beat which has only recently become popular worldwide thanks to Anitta. The song is super catchy, the vocals sound very strong, the girls are beautiful and their dance break included way more difficult foot work than blackpink ever did. meovv seem like a solid girl group and just bc teddy keeps to what he knows best doesn't mean it won't work. there's a reason why some of the biggest pop stars keep to their well known formulas…

  8. I wish people would stop comparing rookie debutants to Jennie from Blackpink. First it was Ahyeon from Babymonster and now Ella from Meovv. I love Blackpink. They were my first Kpop experience and I loved everything they did. This is going to sting a bit but neither Ahyeon nor Ella look anything like Jennie so let's let them be who they are. Also, Jennie is a very good performer but only an average singer. I've heard everything BP and Jennie alone have done. She has control but lacks the power and range that at least 3 of the singers in Babymonster have. Since I've never heard Ella sing live I can't comment on whether she is a better singer than Jennie is. I mean no disrespect toward Jennie but this is my opinion.

  9. It was a solid debut for an audience of jaded kpop stans with too much time on their hands, the girls are doing just fine. We all knew what their look and sound was going to be based on their label and producer, so there should be no disappointment.

  12. Nah their debut is 🔥
It’s just the beginning for this group. All the haters need to be quiet. People first of all need to stop making videos and comments bashing talented idols doing what they love… for 5th gen Idols i think they are going to do well…they are multilingual and are signed with capitol records…that is definitely going to open doors to be popular globally.

  13. Since bp till now yg had always used these fashion and visual centered videos… Are you noticing this only now? All of bp and baemons videos are a bunch of sets with different stilyng to appease the eyes. No cohesion whatsoever from a set to the other just put there because it was beautiful and aesthetic. Everything from the tip of the head to the toenail in yg videos is to appease the eye. Ice cream had so many styles that it was almost sickening. It really is a fashion commercial. For men's videos is different tho. i guess why.

  14. You expect an amazing song from MEOVV just because they're under BLACK LABEL, that you forgot how SOMI songs sounds. She's under the same label, you shouldn't expect interesting track eventho' it has TEDDY PARK in it. Funny how KPOP fans always associate everything into one person, while the people behind the scene is more than just one. People also need to understand that even BLACKPINK latest songs ain't better than their previous songs eventho it produced by the same guys. Move on, guys, world's changing~

  15. It grew on me fast. I think most were wanting that trendy, busy, bubblegum cutesy pop-hiphop vibe– which is ironically just as recycled despite fans claiming they want "freshness".
Teddy has a style and a formula, idk what y'all were expecting.

It's a gimmick intro song named after their group name. Their next will likely be different, this felt like a test (which is the case for most debuts, especially if they're the first of their label.) Let's not lose hope and dismiss them.
