The Premier League is considering The 'luxury tax | my love for football is over | football is dead

🚨 The Premier League is considering REMOVING points deductions and introducing an NBA-style ‘luxury tax’ due to concerns that top players might leave if their pay is restricted.

The ‘luxury tax’ would penalise clubs financially for overspending, with the penalty increasing based on their spending. Clubs in theory could still choose to spend freely if they prefer but with the knowledge of taking another financial hit.

The tax could then be distributed to the other Premier League clubs who stayed within the rules.

  1. Luxury Tax is in American Sports. Problem with Luxury Tax is, it allows the richest clubs to spend as much as they want.

I have a sneaky suspicion they won’t do a point deduction to Man City until after this rule change happens so they never have to punish them outside of a “fine”. 🤦🏽‍♂️

  2. Jamie, just stumbled across this. 15 mins in and can already see you have a biased view.

    1) going on about City could just spend 500M next summer? They can do that anyway even within UEFA rules system. They will make it up by just winning trophies? Already doing that. Turning Prem into a farmers league by winning it every season.

You mention Newcastle. No mention of Villa yet. Why on earth shouldn't they be allowed to invest and climb the table? Why should they achieve Champions league then have to sell? Top 4. On you go Douglas Luis etc we have to sell because off FFP.

Billionaires don't buy clubs to sit mid table forever. They buy to invest and grow the business. Currently they can't do that. Like any business. You have to invest to improve your returns. Plain and simple.

  3. And the reason I think your view is biased. Liverpool done in the 70s what City are doing now.

They where the money team. Everton was the bigger mereseyside club untill Eric Sawyer came in.

Everyone knows this. It wasn't just Bill Shanklys brilliance. We was backed by the "Financial Muscle' which you speak off.

So why should yous get a free pass when it's built yous into what yous are today? Trying to shut out anyone else with the same ambition.

Yous did it. ManU did it. Chelsea did it. City did it. So every team should have a right to do it otherwise it's a closed shop and nobody else will every catch up.

  4. Not even a liverpool fan but your club are soo tight with money (owners) they wouldnt even take advanatage of thr luxury tax because they aint paying a fine for the sake of sucess. Say the same for Spurs

  5. Am Newcastle fan I don’t want us to spend £130 million on one player, but to try and catch up to the cartel 6 we have to spend because the top6 are to far ahead of the rest in terms of sponsorship deals, there is no fair way of doing this because the system we have in play now is so one sided and it is damaging the image of the premier league, you cannot stop other teams of progress and that’s what it is right now,Newcastle would have to sell some players to be able to spend in the summer, and villa are in the same trouble, but both clubs are in no debt and have plenty of money to spend but system in play is stopping us,I would have a cap on all teams just for example if all teams could spend no more then£500 million in three season cycle,so that would mean we are all on the same playing level if your club can afford it

  6. 17 teams provionally have approve this. You need 14 teams for it to be approved. This will happen. Think about it. Owners at small clubs will be getting free money filtered down to them from luxury tax paid out by the elite teams. Extra money for recruits, infrastructure etc. Lets be real, no ruling can be fair now l the gaps to big, so the best way is to compensate the other clubs whondo comply and funding these teams is encouraging for any owner.

  7. Lets be honest, if you do your research you’ll see Liverpool have been part of the group (Totenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, ManUtd) that were pushing rule changes to stop our takeover and efforts to grow our revenue

Are the proposed luxery tax rules completely fair? Probably not but are the current ones? No

Its probably not easy to see as youre already up at the top with huge revenue but we get top4 then a year later we are told we have to sell our best players to suit the rules… how is this fair? As it currently is the top revenue teams have the advantage

So everyone is happy with the current rules until it impacts their team, id love to see your videos on the unbalance of the current rules that forces Newcastle, Villa etc to sell their best players because of FFP

You said how do the smaller teams catchup? Well tell me how they catch up now? Leicester won the league then had to sell all their players now theyre in the championship but the current rules are “fair” 😂

I agree with some of your points BUT the balance is already off, I for one dont want us spending £300m on Mbappe but I welcome this luxery tax 100%
