The Pony Express: The Fastest Mail Service in the Wild West

#biography #wildwest #historyfacts
The Pony Express was a solution to that problem, though it was a short-lived one. It was in operation for just 18 months, and in that time it became a legend of the American West. The romantic image of a lone rider, facing and triumphing over the dangers posed by vast distances, inclement weather, hostile Indians, and roving bandits is part of Western mythology. In truth, it was a massive undertaking, a business that ultimately failed when it proved massively unprofitable. Still, it is fondly remembered as part of American history as an attempt to overcome the imposing geography of the continent because what’s more American than charging head-first into a bad idea and refusing to admit you’re wrong?

  1. The negative graphics of child labor! The dumba## people that push modern laziness of precious children into history irritates me. Children often did not attend school, but helped parents and other adults to live. Children grew up faster. Calling the pony Express a failure is idiotic. Not impressed by your negative take on history.

  2. "…in a series of deals involving bribes, kickbacks, and other extra-legal magi nations. The history of the American West is rife with corrupt contractual arrangements, bribes, and other such activities happily endorsed by some of the politicians of the day."

  3. 12:40 so the reason they wouldnt leave behind the Bible is in case they died on route and had to be buried quickly far from their home and home church. Because of this the riders would have a Bible with them so that whoever found their body could read from the Bible and give them a proper burial as it was believed failing to do so would cause your soul to be condemned to purgatory. Thankyou for Bible Ranch camp for that story. Is it true? Who the heck knows? (besides God 😉😉)

  4. From 1866 until 1889, the Pony Express logo was used by stagecoach and freight company Wells Fargo, which provided secure mail service. Wells Fargo used the Pony Express logo for its guard and armored-car services. The logo continued to be used when other companies took over the security business into the 1990s. Since 2001, the Pony Express logo is no longer used for security businesses, since the business has been sold.

  5. I assume comments are read from the producers so here we go.

I watched every single video on biographics, today I learned, and a few other channels. Biographics has a special place in my heart. Anytime I am sick, Nyquil and Bipgraphics are there for me. That said, I am back after trying to watch a few times and want to offer feedback without the "OMG wheres Simon" as I am aware of what went on.

Thumbnail Graphics: The style has changed a few times since the changes. However, the most recent one is very unappealing. "Dont judge a book by its cover" should be in effect but online it plays a big part. Idk who has made changes but loved the old format.

Biographies: After the transition, it seems as though we have alot less interesting subjects. I loved that there was anything from war lords to authors to athletes. I would highly suggest going back to whatever manner it was you used to select subjects.

The Host: I honestly like this most recent host and didnt mind the last one either. However, I feel as though the timing and the subject matter really limits whoever is goingnto be hosting. Pacing with simon with chapters etc. Made the content easy to follow. Also, their needs to be time edits for the chapters for people who go back and reference the information.

I hope this helps and I will be looking out for any good content.
