The PeopleMover is Dead

I thought we had a chance. However small that chance was, I wanted to believe. Disney sure showed me.

  1. What's funny is we're begging for scraps. If Walt was still running things, we'd have a PeopleMover, The Hulk would have a lifelike audoanimatronic face, and the future would have been a brighter place.

  2. You have to enjoy Florida’s people mover – but I’d be willing to volunteer my services for fair market price to bring the rehab in under cost if anyone is paying attention – they are paying attention but don’t care

  3. here's the thing…they ought to bring back "The Peoplemover" as a free ride system at the DLR to….C'mon you know…..MOVE PEOPLE!! you gotta ask yourself why they just don't build a purposely built system to move guests to either a shopping/parking area or maybe even a free ride outside either park to "showcase" the resort…yes…free peek a boo! it doesn't really have to be part of Tomorrowland but still part of "Disneyland"

  4. I don't understand how corporations work. Why do they always act like they're flat broke? What is the point of being a corporation if you're always broke? "Our theme parks made infinity dollars this year. But we'd better be careful what projects we announce, because if there's a recession, we'll have to cancel them all."

  5. Yeah… D23 parks panel was abundant with concepts… a lot of "well jeeze wouldn't THIS idea be just swell?"

Wish there had been more ACTUAL announcements, not as I said before "concepts". But oh well… it is what it is unfortunately.

  6. I think a lot of fans – especially those in the room – misinterpreted what Josh said. Happily Ever After, the show, is not coming back. Rather the song is going to be incorporated into a fireworks show next year (could even just be a tag to the current show). The applause and cheers were so loud that people couldn’t hear the rest of Josh’s statement.

  7. honey you deserve to go off about all of this disney higherups are completely betraying they’re core base like the way they had the figment balloons and teased the villains land it just feels like a carrot on a stick

  8. This is really sad what this guy is going through about this mentally but I don’t understand why he can’t just go on the people mover ride at Epcot and accept that as the definitive people mover ride.

  9. πŸ˜‚ oh no a made up rumor you fell for didn’t turn out to be true, even though you wanted it to be true SO BAD that you made a lot of content about how this fake rumor was totally 100% true and would be the thing to return DL to some nostalgic glory days of your imagination.

  10. I don’t understand the idea of having more ip lands. Unless the focus of the movie is about creating an entire different universe (like avatar) then why make an entire area dedicated to that rather than just a ride?

  11. Thank you for the giant middle finger, Mr. Mickey Mouse. Of course I’ll happily pay you more, for less stuff and poorer conditions of said stuff.
Thank you sir, may I have another.

  12. Nothing timeless, nothing meaningful, nothing cohesive, nothing lasting. Just cash-grab cheap IP bullshit, sold at a premium for no reason, copy-pasted into any park that happens to be lacking attendance at the time. Disney as we knew it has long since been dead. The soul has been smashed to pieces for the almighty dollar.

  13. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it returning in the far future (obviously though it would need a brand new track). There actually was a Peoplemover styled attraction intended in the early planning stages of Galaxy's Edge.

  14. I felt it was pretty obvious they weren't going to bring the people mover back. It would take a lot of money to restore it, money that can be used on "new." Refurbishing old rides doesn't attract the same amount of crowds a new attractions/land would.

  15. I'd like to point out that he said that the Happily Ever After ANTHEM will return, not necessarily the show. From my personal resources, they've said "A Brand New Updated Show featuring the Happily Ever After Anthem"…so basically we have no idea. It could be the exact same show it could be a completely different show. They worded it in such a way that they could put on any show involving the song, and hold up to what he just announced at the panel.

  16. Logic would be they will need to talk about NEW TOMORROWLAND plans before they can talk about the Peoplemover coming back since the land is going to be leveled when they build NEW TOMORROWLAND and the current track is not repairable anymore.

  17. They announced long ago – YEARS – that the DL PeopleMover track, partially due to the ill-advised Rocket Rods, had suffered structural damage to the point that it could never be used again. Until we get a COMPLETELY NEW Tomorrowland at DL – and with Bob Paycheck in charge, good luck – those useless, ugly tracks will sit there as a reminder of past bad decisions.

But yes, the DL PeopleMover is dead.

  18. I am very sorry that at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, part of Tomorrowland, we are not bringing back the New Peoplemover. But when Tomorrowland is refurbished, in the above ground platform, they can still remove all the old / unused Peoplemover & Rocket Rod tracks as well as removing the old & unused Rocket Rod satellite from the top pylon to pave the way for a Heathrow Pod Tout with windows and air conditioners without motorized tracks.

  19. You know what they also didn’t talk about, the β€œthird gate” at Disneyland. The concept art had something that looked like a Frozen ride.. all somewhere at the end of Downtown Disney. They never mentioned the entrance refurb of Tomorrowland which was super fuzzy anyway other than the 60s retro look with blue and green plants. I kind of wish they would get rid of Pixie Hallow. It’s never opened anyway.
