Yall already know how much I enjoyed Sick Week last January. Although we had many issues with Billy’s 55, the comradery made the trip so much fun.
So many people stopped to help or ask if we needed parts. So this week while the Hot Rod Drag Week event was going on at our local track, I had an opportunity to pay back the generosity when Charlie Kay from Brooklyn New York broke down in Columbus on his way back from Michigan.
His Big Block Monte Carlo broke a shaft rocker arm and Charlie needed it replaced asap.
With Jegs showing “out of stock” Charlie felt he was completely “out of luck” but thanks to some of his fellow competitors, he was able to get in touch with me. Thanks to our stash of spare rocker arms, I thought I had what he needed. But after driving his 540ci Big Block Chevy over 200 miles with a broken rocker arm, I wasn’t sure the lifter and push rod would be reusable.
Charlie was sitting in 3rd place going into the final day. So, OMG to the rescue!

I really would love to go to a drag and drive. Mainly a sick week drag and drive. Thanks for the great content Bill.
🤜🏼🤛🏼
U guys do great job keep on keeping on…
Your laugh is getting as bad as Kamala's .
Id like to see how Bob cuts valve seats what angles and why
Wow.. that's the worst milk shake I've seen
Ya know Bill ,all this just further solidify why everybody thinks so much of yall! ,for me also I try to give back to the people that has helped me through the years, but while I like to give back ,the thing that's most satisfying to me ,is being in the position to give back because for so many years I couldn't even if I'd wanted to, so when I was finally able to help out someone struggling, I didn't hesitate for a second & I'm just so thankful that it's finally came back around ,instead of feeling like I was always in need or felt like I was taking ,anyways you rock ! #keepemsmokin!
Old Man to the rescue, how great was that. You are the man. Looking forward to the new tee shirt 426 build
Ive been watching Alex Taylor they have a great channel
Very cool Sir very cool!!
Ask bob if decking a motor is good and gives it more power
Bill, outstanding Content and Video, really cool 😎that you came to the rescue
Thanx for sharing your experience 👍
Have a Great Day 👍
I’d to see you guys assemble the big blocks
Wow. Blast from the past. I remember watching Charlie race that same car in the street in Brooklyn in the late 80s early 90s. Original OG he was ahead of the curve back then. Nice to see he’s still at it,with same car
Lol, you guys are keeping the machine shop in business 😂
Rocker arm issue during the drive are from a constant RPM where there is bad harmonics. he needs to change RPM a little higher or lower.
I can't believe y'all still learning how to shut a hood. Time to chew some aas and teach them kids how to shut a car hood. Put a stop to that damage ASAP.
Get Bob a gopro with a stand so he can set it up and point where he's talking about explain to us or teach us what he does with clearances and all that.. all he's gotta do is push a button and talk.. no stress from him.. plus you don't have to go up there to film. Lol
Hey Bill, do you know the weight difference between your steel hood and the glass hood. I'm looking for something lighter for my 3rd gen Camaro. My steel cowl hood is really heavy.
Unless you are a true drag racer, people don't understand the way we help fellow racers. When we line up against each other it's on but after the race it's what do you need to keep winning..Thats what your family is all about to !!Keep up the great videos
"Who are you voting for"?
That was spot on.
The left will kill events like this.
I went to Milan on Thursday to experience this.
I have never seen such fast cars make a pass, then circle right back around to get back into the staging lanes and wait their turn and make another hit without having to perform massive service just to prepare for another round.
Goldstone in his Javelin did just that at Milan.
He got there late with about 35 minutes left before staging lanes closed.
He made a good hit, went a little center, had to lift, went back to the staging lanes and made another hit that was great.
Crowd loved it.
Also, from what I observed on YouTube, it appears that Milan had the best crowd turn out.
Awesome video thanks
I’d love to see Bob do a Big Block or small block but do it as a diy how to. Basically if an EXPERT like Bob was going to build a motor at home how would he? What would he prioritize? What little tricks could he show us we could do at home? @theoldmansgarage
I’m very interested in the big block ford build for the Kentucky guy.
Bill wouldn't out Billy on Booty pic's would he 😂🤣 hahahaha
Bill I would like too get my motor to uncle Bob over the winter to get my 387 stroker put together but gotta get crank cleaned up
I seen the Malibu when I was at national trail on day 5 of drag week and that car is the cleanest Malibu I’ve ever seen in my life.
What kind of engine improvements can I do without a machine shop provided I have a few tools
That 496 give away shirt is cool.. hopefully the final version will have McVay Automotive and machine on the back with the other “sponsors”🤷🏽
I think it would be cool to see a 427sbc vs a 427bbc on the dyno
Would love to see the full assembly of one of the engines, just to see the little details to pay close attention to on a race engine.
"Who you voting for?" 💪Like
"Thats what it is all about" helping each other. Instead of tearing each other down over things like money, politics or any thing else divisive. Life should be more like the drag n drive community. Do good, help others. Excellent video bill as always 👍
Be good to see the process for part selection on some of these motor builds in particular parts and how to build a nasty 10 sec street/strip small block chev
